She would not be defeated. No, not that easily.
Ruby had almost everything she needed - supplies, tools, clearance, it was all in her possession. That last one was scary for a while, but eventually the master of the estate allowed her to proceed. Now, there was only one more obstacle to overcome.
A heartless machine, straight from the depths of hell. Well, there would be no surrender, no retreat today! No, this will be the day where she conquers the ally of darkness before her. It's tyranny over her heart was over!
"You need some help?"
"No! I got it!"
She could practically hear it. Her sister, her greatest ally, rolling her eyes in doubt! How could she? How DARE she! It mattered not. All she needed to do was focus on the task before her - the fiery beast would bend to her will! She bravely reached forward, extended a single finger-
*BEEP*
GAH! What th-oh. Well, vile fiend, It would not dissuade her! Its roar to announce the turn of the hour would not make her flee, abandon all she has worked for! Once more, her hand stretched before her, finally making contact with the smooth metallic spines on the machination's skin. Now was the time, now was the place! With all her heart, the heroic maiden struck forth!
*BEEP*
'OVEN PREHEAT SET TO 3-7-5 DEGREES'
Ah, the shrill of the beast's death throes, like music to her ears! Pure euphoria rushed through her every finger and toe. At last, it had happened. She had conquered her fear and brought justice to the kingdom! T'was only a matter of time before she would be able to reap the spoils of her battle!
"Great, now get over here and pour the flour."
...
But only after the beast's minions all lay defeated at her feet!

Of course I chose comedy - probably the hardest medium there is - as my first published story. What could possibly go wrong?
