Finnick POV

Introduction:

I walk down the shoreline towards the girl in the sand. She appears to be staring at the waves, but I know better. I drop to the ground beside her. Her eyes don't waver. I gently kiss her on the cheek, she doesn't move.

"Annie? Look at me," I tell her. She turns her stare to me. "Well hello there beautiful!" I say giving her a sexy wink. She laughs and rests her head on my shoulder.

"What's wrong?" I ask her. She shakes her head.

"They can't do that to me," Annie says leaving me confused.

"Can't do what?" I ask her.

"Put us back into the games for the quarter quell," she looks up at me. "Together," she ends.

"I would protect you," I tell her.

"Finnick, you can't die for me. You would take too much of me with you. If you die, what would be left for me? I would have to live with the fact you were gone, and that it was my fault," She says, tears falling from her face. I kiss her lightly on the lips and wipe away her tears. Annie pushes her brown hair behead her ear.

"Annie, I love you. I always will," I say, reassuring her. Annie swings the golden chain around her neck. My present to her on our seven-year anniversy. She looks up, her breath taking green eyes are swimming with tears.

"Promise me that Finn. Promise," She tells me.

"I promise." I mean that. Annie owns my heart.
