I was five and he was six...
Jack had been allowed by his mother to have his friend Mark over. Sure Mark was in the 1st grade and he in kindergarten but Mark was brought up because of smartness.
We rode on horses made of sticks...
Mark got off his bike and ran over. He always brought the nerf guns with him. We began looking for long sticks we could use as horses for playing Knights. He found two large sticks and we got ready.
He wore black and I wore white...
He already had his black shirt and hat on for the bad guy role. I quickly put on my white shirt and cape. We got into position and Mark whistled to begin the duel.
He would always win the fight. Bang bang, he shot me down Bang bang, I hit the ground Bang bang, that awful sound Bang bang, my baby shot me down...
I pretend fell off my horse and hit the grass. He ran over smiling but I kept my stance. I stuck my tongue out just to make it look real. He began panicking and got down on his knees.
" Jackaboy it isn't funny anymore! Did I really shoot you? Oh god Jack stop it its not funny! I love you-oh crap I didn't mean to say that out loud..." Mark said panicking.
I opened my eyes and say up. " You know what? I love you too!"
Seasons came and changed the time.
Mark flew down the hallway and got in position. Wearing his tux in the computer lab he had the perfect way to ask Jack to prom. He coded all the computers to spell Jackaboy+Markimoo= prom? He picked up the flowers and Jack walked in. He smiled and nodded, running into Mark's arms.
When I grew up, I called him mine. He would always laugh and say " Remember when we used to play?"...
" How could I forget? I faked death and you said you loved me!" Jack said bringing a folder to his boss. Mark followed with a coffee cup and a sandwich. They were both interns for the same computer game company. It helped the collage fund.
Bang bang I shot you down. Bang bang you hit the ground. Bang bang, that awful sound bang bang, I used to shoot you down...
" Did we ever establish a winner?" Mark asked waiting in line to graduate.
" You did!" Jack said behind him. Sure it wasn't in the right order but he would move later.
" I love you jackaboy!" Mark said.
The man called his name and he went up to get his diploma. As he waited to say his speech he turned to Jack. " Sean, you are the love of my life. Ever sense you were five and I was six we knew we loved each other. Sure the road was long but we always ended up together again after. Sean, will you make me the happiest knight and marry me?"
Music played and people sang, Just for me the church bells rang...
I walked down the aisle with a smile on my face. As I reached my husband the minister began. All I could focus on was how pretty Mark looked. But he broke the silence with his vows. As I said mine the minister allowed us to kiss. Everyone cheered and are lips broke apart. I could not be happier with my knight in shining armor.
Now he's gone, I don't know why And till this day, sometimes I cry. He didn't even say goodbye He didn't take the time to lie. Bang bang, he shot me down. Bang bang, I hit the ground. Bang bang, that awful sound Bang bang, my baby shot me down.
I cried into my hands as the nurse told me the news. Mark had been in a car accident and died. There was no evidence of how exactly though. I thought about him in the hospital room, his full cheeks, happy eyes. He was my knight, being without him would be like shooting my heart into a million pieces. I love my knight.
He would call me his darling, and he was my baby. My chest ached where my heart was and all I could do is whisper. Tears falling down my face.
" Bang bang, my baby shot me down..."
