Chapter one: on thin ice
"quickly Jake, grab him!" Finn shouted as they tried to stop the singing nightfish from leaving the ice kingdom. "ya got it buddy" Jake said, as he coiled himself around the creature. The fish stomped around and let out a horrifying high-pitched scream. The surrounding mountains rumbled and the ice below their feet started to crack. "this isn't good, We need to get out of here!" Finn yelled as he noticed the cracks. "Couldn't agree with you more" Jake said and he uncoiled. With one smooth motion he grabbed Finn and stretched out of the danger zone. From a distance they watched as one of the mountains collapsed and waited for until their surroundings stopped shaking. Finn looked at the distant mountains that once again stood motionless and said: "we should probably check if that nightfish is still alive, let's go Jake". Jake nodded and hurried after him. When they returned to the disaster area, The fish was nowhere to be seen. The ground where the fish has stood had disappeared and was now the entrance of a natural tunnel running far into the ice "must have opened up by the nightfish's howl" Jake contemplated. " you think he fell down there Jake?" Finn said. "Might be." Jake answered "wanna check it out?" "sure." And together they jumped into the hole and slid down deeper and deeper under the ice.
after a steep descend the tunnel straightened and the two came to a sudden halt caused by the no longer moving body of the nightfish. They scrambled to their feet and looked around. They were in the middle of a frozen street. Finn and Jake had come across places like this before, a place that showed a world that no longer existed and which broken remains were scattered across the land of Ooo. Memories that had no one to be remembered by. This place was disturbingly well preserved, for everything was covered in a layer of ice. frozen Cars stood without a single spot of rust in front of fences that kept their front yards with little benches, small frozen fountains and garden gnomes neatly separated from the street. It must have been like that for hundreds of years. In front of one of the houses stood a snarling dog frozen in time. It turned out the dog was not the only once-living being in this street. As Finn and Jake silently walked down the road they saw open front doors and humans looking outside their houses with terrified looks on their faces. "hey, Finn" Jake said "I don't think we should be here man, let's go home." Finn nodded when he heard something moving behind him, the night fish appeared to have woken up. It slowly got back on its feet and immediately headed for Finn and Jake, once again howling it's high pitched howl. They heard rumbles echoing down the street and big pieces of ice came falling from the ceiling, this was not good. "hurry Jake let's get inside" urged Finn and they ran to the nearest front door. When Finn was safely inside the narrow empty hallway, they turned around and saw the fish being crushed by a big block of ice. They caught their breath and waited for the debris to stop falling. "alright" Jake said "glad that that's over, now let's hurry up and get out of here." And he immediately made way for the door. "Hang on buddy, there might still be some pieces of ceiling that can fall down." Finn said a little too quick. "what?, don't be ridiculous Finn there's no way that that will happen." "Come on dude" Finn said "why don't we look around for a bit, there might be some cool stuff inside." Jake frowned, "I don't know man, seems like a bad idea to me."Finn just stuck out his tongue and walked further into the house.
