''Simba, Kiara…. Come here.''
Simba and Kiara walked into the cave silently after Nala had called them. As they got closer to Nala, they saw a little golden blur of fur between Nala's paws. Their eyes went wide at that sight.
Kiara was the first one to take a look at her new little sibling. ''She's so cute, mom.'' She said.
''He's a boy, Kiara.'' Nala chuckled as she licked her son's head gently, and the little cub opened its eyes.
''A boy?!''
Kiara nearly fainted. She always had dreamed of having a sister. But now her hopes all crashed down as she had heard the news.
Simba noticed Kiara's disappointed face. ''Aren't you happy with having a brother?''
''I do am, daddy, I just thought that… I would have a sister.'' Kiara tried to not look sad in front of her parents.
''Having a brother is also great, Kiara.'' Nala said this time. ''I had a brother once, and I was very happy.''
''Really, mom?'' Kiara was surprised. ''I have an uncle? Where's he now? Why isn't he on Pride Rock?''
''He's with the great kings of the past.'' Nala lowered her head and nuzzled her new son for comfort.
''Oh…'' Kiara lowered her head.
''He was killed by your great-grandfather Scar.'' Simba continued, seeing his mate was troubled by memories and can't continue and saw his daughter wanted to know more of her mystery uncle.
''I'm sorry.'' Kiara flattened her ears against her head in guilt.
''Don't be. He's in a better place now, at least.'' Nala raised her head and gave her daughter a gentle nuzzle. ''And has your grandfather with him to guide him.''
''I feel sorry for you, mom.'' Kiara nuzzled her mother back, her ears still flattened. ''I promise I'll be always there for my little brother. And nobody will lay a claw on him!'' Her face became serious and her ears straightened up.
Her parents smiled at Kiara's overprotectiveness.
''We know you would, Kiara. You'd be a great sister to him.'' Nala said and then gave a lick to her newborn son. ''His name's Kion.''
''Cute name, mom.''
''Thanks, Kiara. That's the best I could think of.'' The queen chuckled. And her mate and daughter chuckled along.
''Mom, you think of best names ever.'' Kiara told her honestly. ''Like, who gave me my name?''
''I did.'' Nala smiled.
''See, mom? You think of best names ever.''
Nala was glad to hear that. ''I'm sure Kion will think the same.'' She watched as Kion looked around at the lions around him, curiously with his sparkling eyes.
''Hi.'' Kiara leaped up to her mother and gave her little brother a lick to the head. ''I'm your big sister Kiara.'' She stroked the cub's fur gently with her tail.
Kion then bite her tail and grabbed a hold on it.
''OUCH!'' Kiara yelped and tried to release her tail. ''Kion. Let my tail go!'' She even got a bit mad, what made the small cub realize it and let go of her tail, and started crying. ''No, no, hush.'' She regretted it and licked her new baby brother few more times, and then nuzzled her head up against him. ''Hush, I'm here.''
Kion stopped crying, and made a happy mew at seeing his sister forgave him for the biting.
Simba smiled. ''See, Kiara? You already are best big sister to him ever.''
Kiara smiled, and deep inside she knew that it was true. She was able to take care of him. She knew she really is and will always be the best sister ever to him.
