A little chat between friends

When Bass is back in the cell after being whipped by Connor, Miles and Connor have a little chat.

Miles looked up from the floor, which he had been contemplating for a while, and saw Connor coming back to check on them.

"Hey! Asshole!" he whispered.

"What?" said Connor approaching the cell warily.

"Shhh! Keep your voice down. He's asleep."

He nodded towards the corner, where Bass was lying down on his stomach. It had taken him forever to fall asleep.

"What do you want?" repeated Connor, but in a lower voice.

Miles reached outside the bars and grabbed Connor by the lapels. Connor didn't try to shake him off, not wanting to appear afraid of a man behind bars.

"I just wanted to let you know that when we get out of this, I'm coming for you," growled Miles.

"Yeah, like that's gonna happen any time soon."

"You know what he just did? You know?" said Miles fiercely, looking at Bass.

Connor nodded "no" slowly.

"He was crying in his sleep. Sebastian Monroe was crying in his sleep. Congratulations, Connor," he said sarcastically. "But just remember, I'm still in one piece, and you will pay."

"I heard he's a cunt," said Connor impassively.

With a sudden move, Miles pulled him closer so that Connor's face was pushing against the bars.

"This cunt is my friend!"

"Why do you care about him so much anyway?" asked Connor, going on the defensive. "You should be mad at him, for dragging you into this."

"Of course I am fucking mad at him! And it will take me a long, long time to stop being fucking mad at him! But you know what? He's still my friend. And you're still an asshole."

Miles paused for breath.

"So just keep it in that thick skull of yours. I'll get you for this, and then no drug baron will save you. Got it?"

"Is this jerk giving you grief, son?" came a raspy voice from the corner.

"Shut up and go back to sleep, you moron," said Miles dismissively.

"Hey! Don't talk to my dad like that!" snapped Connor, reaching his hand inside the cell to grab Miles from the collar as well.

Miles pushed Connor away, threw up his arms in exasperation.

"That's it! I've had it, with both of you! The Monroe family can sort out its problems without me from now on. I've had it."

He marched back to his corner and sat down, resolutely not looking at either of them.

"Let me see what I can do," said Connor cryptically, before turning to leave.

After a couple of minutes, Miles got up and walked back to where Bass was lying. He plonked himself down on the floor there.

"Hey, mate. You all right?"
