Jadis, Jadis, Jadis. I chanted my name. I was Queen. I had to remember that. I straightened my back and held my head high. I am Queen; I corrected.
I walked down another icy corridor. It reminded me of home. Charn, the winter palaces... I missed them more than anything. Some kind of insect fluttered in front of me; I flicked my frosted rod at the infernal bug. Damn them... damn them all. I hated them and they would feel my wrath... those children that took my from my ancestral home.
I noted my pale and haunted reflection in the silver mirror. I brushed my thick hair with the craved swan comb. A small dwarf stood by the door, he bowed in the reflection.
"My queen." He said in that infernal tongue of Aslan. "There is an uprising in the east."
"Leave." I bellowed with an inhuman voice, he ran like the great lion himself was after him. I threw down my comb. I stood and paced, I was Queen! How dare they reject my rule! I noticed my reflection in the tall frozen wall. I walked like a Queen, I talked like a Queen, I was the Queen! I screamed in my mother tongue; the mirror cracked with a snap of pure power.
I remembered the good days; fighting against my sister. It began with arguing about whom was most powerful... It turned out it was her. She never said that word. I did... she won. I thought it was her pride, her magic that was the threat... but nay. If only I had been eldest, I may not have fought her so long. I missed my sister; my twin.
Victory, she had claimed victory. In the city of eternal Winter she claimed victory over me and I proudly without guilt, muttered the word. A million days of bleeding and fasting, a thousand hours of reading, and a second to see the horror filter to my sister's eyes... to my eyes.
I wrenched away from the past; the Lion had promised me a second chance. I would be the Queen I had been unable to be! I would win back the respect of my sister and my forgotten people. We would meet again, of course.
I swept my hand along the frosty walls, I stormed into the throne room with its high domed roof that was modelled on the halls of Charn. My wolven guard was waiting, heads bowed in respect. Good.
"My Lady, there are reports ..."
"Will any opposition be crushed?" I demanded.
He looked up... dangerous decision. "Of course." I glared for a split second. "My Lady." I relaxed my glare.
"Good." I stood and wondered a corridor. I stood, a couple of dwarfs passed without noticing me.
"I heard, the reason it's so bloody cold is because She would melt if it got any hotter. She isn't from this world..."
"Shh, She might here you, she has got spies everywhere... even the plants!" Replied the other in a hushed tone.
I laughed as they left. Yes, good the rumours were spreading. Nothing like fear to keep the fools in line.
