Salazar Slytherin knew what people said about him and he hated it. He knew that everyone at Hogwarts and those that graduated from Hogwarts thought that he was against Muggles and Muggle-Born's but that couldn't be further from the truth. He may just be a portrait now, but he knew that he needed to set everyone straight.

He didn't understand how people could be so stupid to believe what they heard without any evidence. He knew that people thought that he was a dark wizard but just because someone is a dark wizard or witch didn't mean that they were evil. He also didn't understand how people could think that he was a blood purist when he himself had great great grandparents that were Muggle-Born.

What he didn't like was seeing some of his students come to Hogwarts with obvious injuries. What he didn't like was that people automatically assumed in his time that just because someone was different that it meant they were evil. He didn't like the fact that nobody was doing anything to get the kids that were being abused out of the homes in which they were being abused in. He didn't like that he had to constantly make healing draughts, bruise balms, and other things to heal kids who couldn't protect themselves. He didn't like that he couldn't stop those that were hurting the kids that came to be in his care for at least nine months of the year without getting into trouble himself.

He knew that the Muggle and Wizarding world needed to be separate from one another, but that didn't mean that he had something against Muggles. No, he didn't have a problem with all Muggles just the ones that abused their children. He hated that others couldn't see what he did because if they did see it then they would agree with him. He thought that the children that were being abused needed to be taken away from their parents and placed with a family that would love and cherish them like they should be.

Slytherin House always seemed to get the children that were abused. He knew that there were several half-bloods in his house but no Muggle-Born's. He hated how the sorting hat had to put those that were abused in a different house than the one that they truly belong to if they were Muggle-Born because of people thinking that Slytherin house meant you had to be a pureblood or half-blood.

Salazar may have been many things, but he wasn't a bigot. He didn't care if a student was a pureblood, half-blood, or Muggle-Born because they all had magic. He wished that he could make other people understand that. He wished that people wouldn't think that him and his house by association meant that you had to be a bigot. He wished that people would use their brains and actually look into his history properly instead of just going with what they were told. He wished that they would just ask his portrait even if they didn't realize who he was. He would eventually make everyone realize the truth about himself and Slytherin house. He may only be a portrait, but he could still get his point across one way or another.
