"Sweater Weather"
A/N: Based off of the artwork by observando on tumblr.
Kurt had been gone most nights in the past month, busy with his new position at Vogue, and Blaine was getting lonely.
It wasn't that Blaine wasn't proud of his fiancé. He was. It was just that it kind of sucked not having Kurt around, especially at night when he needed the comfort that only fiancé cuddles could provide. And Kurt wasn't gone every night, but sometimes he'd be gone for several days at a time and it was awful.
So, since Kurt's pillow was starting to smell more like Blaine's desperation than Kurt's cologne, Blaine decided it was time to improvise.
He searched through Kurt's side of the closet, looking for one of his lounging sweaters that he wouldn't miss. But he needed one that would still smell like Kurt, so he chose one that Kurt wore just a few days ago.
It was getting late and Blaine waited up just in case, sighing when he finally received a text from Kurt saying he wouldn't be home tonight. He tried not to feel upset about it because Kurt was finally living his dream, but it was hard to stay positive when he hardly ever saw Kurt anymore.
Slipping on the light blue sweater of Kurt's, he settled into bed, wrapping the blankets around himself and inhaling Kurt's scent as he drifted off to sleep.
He slept with that sweater the next two nights. Unfortunately, he spilled coffee on the sleeve and had to wash the sweater, not noticing that the formerly baggy sweater fit him a little more snugly afterwards. After washing it, he also had to spray it with a bit of Kurt's cologne. Maybe he was being a bit pathetic, but he missed his fiancé, okay?
A few days later, Kurt surprised him by coming home early. It was a weekend so Isabelle said he could take a few days off, much to Blaine's delight. As soon as Kurt told him he'd be home all weekend, Blaine grinned and shot forward to hug Kurt tightly, both of them laughing happily. It'd been too long since they'd had more than a day together without interruption.
Later that night, after a much needed shower together, Kurt and Blaine changed into their pajamas, deciding to call it a night. However, when Kurt tried to put his favorite lounging sweater on, he couldn't quite get it to fit. When Blaine saw him struggling with the article, he suddenly remembered Kurt saying something about the sweater not being machine-washable.
"Blaine?" Kurt asked, looking a little ridiculous, albeit adorable, with the sweater halfway on his head, his arms sticking out at awkward angles due to the too-tight sleeves.
Blaine walked over to Kurt and slipped his head underneath the sweater, wrapping his arms around Kurt's waist. "I'm afraid I'm not very experienced in washing away coffee stains," he explained.
Kurt mock glared at him. "Why were you drinking coffee in my sweater?"
"For the same reason you used to wear my Dalton hoodie when you had sleepovers with Rachel and Mercedes," Blaine said with a pout. "It smelled like you. And I was lonely."
Kurt couldn't possibly be angry with him for that. He smiled softly. "I know, sweetheart. But the fashion show is almost over and then I'll be home more often, I promise." Blaine grinned and kissed him. "Now, if you wouldn't mind helping me get this sweater off of me, that'd be awesome."
Blaine laughed and did just that, tossing the sweater aside before sitting on the edge of their bed and tugging Kurt to him. Kurt smirked a little and held Blaine's face between his palms. "Until then, I believe we have four lonely nights to make up for. I suggest we get started."
"You do have good ideas sometimes," Kurt told him with a teasing smirk. "Look at that."
Blaine's smile never faltered. "I asked you to marry me, didn't I?"
"That has to be one of your best ideas yet, I think."
