In the middle of the night, Homura woke up in sweat.
Partially AU because I twisted some facts of the rules and stuff. WHO CARES OMG
It's long over.
The ultimate battle between the five magical girls and Walpurgisnacht Night was long over, but no matter how hard Homura tried, she was not able to forget the past timelines she had went through. Those repeated death, those tears of betrayals... When the battle was over, Homura once doubted the ending and wondered if everything was just a dream.
Even though Madoka choose to became a magical girl, Homura decided to take the risk. Homura had told the truth behind Kyubey's scheme, but Madoka told her to believe in her. She didn't know if she should restart the time again, stopping Madoka at all cost from becoming a magical girl... or should she see how it would turn out?
She decided to see how it went. It didn't matter. If Homura could sense that her choice was wrong, she could easily restart the time, it's easy as one, two, three. She's used to it.
"Homura-chan! We-We did it!" Madoka ran up to her and hugged Homura and although her body was sticky with sweat and a bit of blood, Madoka didn't care.
"Madoka... Kyoko... Mami... Homura! We... we did it!" Sayaka's knee gave way as she kneel on the floor, the sword in her hand disappeared as she started to tear. And that was the first time Sayaka called Homura by her first name.
All Kyoko did was to lean against a debris and stared up at the clearing sky before taking a deep breathe. Mami was standing at a corner, smiling brilliantly as she gave a heavenly sigh.
"It's all over! Homura-chan! We did it! We really did it!" Madoka happy cheer echoed in her head.
It's not a dream. Homura thought herself every single night that everything was not a dream, but reality. They had did something Homura never thought could happen. As a team, a well-bonded team, they finally defeated the Walpurgisnacht night together...
"Hey Homura-chan..." Madoka slowly turned around, the last bow in her hand and blood trickling down her forehead. Even though the ending was obvious, Madoka still gave a confident smile.
"Everything will be alright, so don't make that face." Madoka slowly closed her eyes and turned away. "Everything... will be alright."
Homura flung open her eyes, her pillow bathed in her sweat. She tried to catch her breathe, hoping that she could calm herself a bit. Her eyes slowly accommodate to the darkness in the room as she carefully shifted herself on the bed.
A person was lying beside her like usual. Every single night, that person will smile and kiss her forehead goodnight before tucking the covers for Homura and they would start to sleep. And since that person was still there... It meant that everything was not a dream.
Homura moved in closer and wrapped her arms around Madoka. Her strawberry-scented hair soothed Homura tremendously as she rest her forehead against Madoka's soft neck. She knew this would definitely wake Madoka up, but she was too scared to let go. Homura desperately need a confirmation that everything wasn't a dream. She needed to know if everything she had done was not in vain, that Madoka is still safe and sound.
"It's alright Homura-chan. I'm here." It was nearly like a daily routine and Madoka understood and never failed to answer Homura. Madoka reached out for Homura's arm and held it gently. "I'm here." Madoka's voice sounded like an angel. "I'm forever by your side."
Homura smiled and closed her eyes as she slowly drifted back to sleep. Nightmare-less. "Thank you. Madoka... Thank you."
