Sally the beautiful flat-face had spinning around in Ujurak's mind all day. As he lie asleep next to his companions, Kallik, Lusa and Toklo, he wondered that maybe a miracle would occur for him that she would become a bear herself. He would be her mate, have many cubs and keep each other warm during the bitter cold night.
When he woke he suddenly noticed a flat face standing next to him. Sally! She knelt down and kissed his the head of his handsome face.
"I really missed you," she smiled.
"I'm so sorry I ran away," said Ujurak. I'm a bear. I don't think a bear and a flat-face can mate with each other.
"A flat-face?" asked Sally looking puzzled.
"It's what we bears call you animals."
"We are called humans," said Sally. "But I shall take whichever shape you want."
And her arms and legs grew wide and thick and soon she was bear. A beautiful too, light brown and a face so beautiful there couldn't be any other she-bear like her.
They ran off into the beautiful star night. They wandered form the snow hills to beautiful sights of the forests. They looked at a clear river where two swans tied necks around each other. Sally looked at Ujurak and rested her head on his chest. They looked into the night and saw a star shooting. They followed it and came to a field of deer. Ujurak was shocked to see that Sally had transformed into one.
"We share the same gift!" said Ujurak as he turned into one himself. They ran through moonlit meadows and down a river and into a wide meadow. They transformed back o=into bears, where they playfully started romping and rolling over each other.
Sally pinned Ujurak the ground. She bent down to Ujurak and licked his nose. He closed his eyes. He felt as if he had been lifted from the ground. He felt like he did because he lifted his head up and licked her back.
Sally got off him and lay down next to him.
"Sometimes Ujurak," she said. "I often wonder if we could be each other's mate."
"I would love to," said Ujurak. "I loved you the very minute I laid eyes on you. We can have as many cubs as we wanted. I can romp with them, teach them how to fish and protect themselves, it would be wonderful be a father."
"And I could let lie against me all snug and warm in the night."
"And I could join in wit you," said Ujurak. "I'll be the first bear father to never leave his mate or cubs."
They pressed each other's nose against each other.
Ujurak, Ujurak,
Ujurak suddenly noticed his nose touching Kallik's. He blushed. "A dream," he said.
"Is there someone you care for, Ujurak?" asked Kallik nuzzling him. "You can tell me anything."
Ujurak told him about the time when they rescued Lusa from the flat-faces he met girl named Sally. He fell in love with her. He ran from her when they rescued Lusa after she witnessed him tuning into a bear when he was flat-face. Then he told Kallik about the dream.
"I love her, Kallik." said Ujurak, close to tears. She's almost like my world.
Kallik put her arms around him. "I know what it's to love somebody and you can't see them. You will find a mate someday, I promise."
Ujurak said nothing, but kept his head pressed against Kallik's chest as she nuzzled his head.
