Christine caught her one, her gaze disapproving and knowing, their eyes met and the blonde women turned back to her coffee, she didn't say anything, she never does. Her eyes are wounded as she glances up the stairs, ignores the way her heart is beating erratically and her palms are sweating, she pulls on her shoes and leaves.

She feels bad at school, she feels even worse when Imogen throws her a smile and politely converses with her. Her stomach clenches with guilt and anger and something that tastes a little bit like regret. Though she hates herself when she feels jealously course though her veins when she spots the way her fingers are intertwine with Connor's.

Her vision blurs with tears, she turns on her heel and goes to lesson, she won't let herself cry. She doesn't deserve too. Not when Imogen's the one with the husband who screws the brunette who she considers her friend most nights, Imogen's the one whose sccared and deaf and so much stronger than her. She won't cry, she won't let herself grieve a relationship that A. Hasn't ended and B. isn't a relationship.

She won't cry when Connor tells her that it can't happen anymore.

She won't cry when she finds out she's pregnant.

She won't cry when her son is born and he's the image of his father.

She won't cry when she calls him Connor. A tribute to the man she loved, she tells the nurse who smiles sadly and offers her condolences.

But for now, she'll go to lesson, go home and repeat the day's process again tomorrow. Connor won't break your heart, she tells herself as she slips into her seat, you've done it for him.
