Link was devastated. He just couldn't handle the news of his father going missing right after his mother died. Link rushed out the door of his little farm home and into the stable. He opened the gate and led his father's horse Fudge out of the stable. "Come on Fudge." Link said. "We've got to go." Link jumped onto Fudge's back and flicked the reins. Fudge took off running. They rode through the plains until they reached Hyrule castle. Link left Fudge and walked to the front gates. There were two guards standing on either side of the gates.
"Halt!" One of the guards shouted. The two guards moved their spears in front of the gates in an x shape. "Who are you? And why have you come here?"
"My name is Link." Link answered. "I work at a farm in Hyrule field. I am here because my father went missing and I must speak with the king." The guard's face looked less serious.
"Your father went missing?" The guard asked. Link nodded his head. "That's terrible!" The guard said. "Go and speak with the king."
"Thank you!" Link replied. The two guards moved their spears and opened the gates. Link walked inside. It was magnificent! Expensive paintings, stained glass windows, and banners were everywhere along with guards! In the center of the room sitting on his throne was the king of Hyrule himself. At his side was his daughter princess Zelda sitting in a smaller but just as extravagant throne. Link kneeled.
"State your business." The king said in a booming voice.
"Your majesty my father went missing" Link said. "And I was wondering if I...could train to become a knight. So I can find him." The king looked shocked at his words.
"I would gladly accept you to become a knight." The king said. "But...do you have the strength and skill required? To find out I think you should pass...a test of sorts." Zelda looked interested in the conversation.
"What kind of test father?" Zelda asked.
"A Hinox has decided to make it's home on a very popular trading route." The king replied. "Kill the Hinox and you will be trained to become a knight."
"Yes your majesty." Link said.
"In the meantime I will send a search party to look for your father." The king said. "You are dismissed." Link stood and left the throne room.
"Do you really think he can do it father?" Zelda asked.
"Hmm..." The king thought about it. "Yes Zelda. I believe he can."
