"Really, you don't trust me ?"

"Of course not. How many times have you lied to me, misled me, tricked me. Is that trust ?"

Loving Jane was like gambling. It always felt uncertain.

"Good luck, Teresa. Love you."

Deep down, she knew he loved her but there always was this doubt. He played with her heart, her feelings so many times before than when he confessed his own, she couldn't quite believe him.

He meant every word, of course. She should have known. She had watched him chase his revenge, merciless, without a care for his safety. For over ten years. All in the name of love. So she had always known how fiercely he loved.

But somehow, she couldn't fathom how he could have any love left for her.

"I can't imagine waking up knowing that I won't see you."

And those insecurities were an insult to him.

Because the size of his heart could be doubted by anyone, people who were only met with his facade but she should have known better.

At least, she did now, she thought, eyes closed, her lips against his.

He bared his soul to her. Opened his heart. She could have crushed him, and she almost did on that plane. For a minute, she had been glued to her seat, both numb and overwhelmed by his revelation. And afraid.

Seeing the forks in the road before her eyes.

But there was never a choice at all. Poor Marcus never stood a chance against the man she has been in love with for over a decade.

"Hey, quit that."

The happy couple ignored the TSA agent knocking on the glass, choosing instead to gaze lovingly at each other.

Her heart singing like a bird, Teresa never felt so damn lucky.
