"You uh… You do know where you're going right?"

"Of course I know where I'm going!" Well, kind of. He made a face, careful to make sure that Rodney couldn't see it. He knew where he wanted to end up, and he had a fairly good idea where that was. Unfortunately, he had no idea if they were currently headed in the right direction. Not that he was about to admit that – especially not to Rodney.

"You're sure? Because, this wouldn't be the first time..."

John rolled his eyes. "We're not lost!"

"Oh, come on! The Genii home world, we were definitely lost. The planet with the kids, you didn't know which direction the gate was in. Do you really want me to continue here?" Rodney tsked and shook his head, "You know it amazes me how you can be a pilot and yet have no sense of direction!"

"We would have eventually made it back to where we were going either time. We just got… sidetracked along the way." Deciding he didn't really want to fuel that particular argument, he changed tactics. "Besides, I have a great sense of direction. It's just that everything looks different in the air."

A snicker from Rodney had John turning to glare at him. Rodney shrugged, "If you want to delude yourself Colonel, who am I to burst your bubble?" Frowning, he continued, "Oh yeah. Wait. I'm the one who always seems to end up LOST with you!"

"We are NOT lost!" Hadn't he seen that tree before? He suppressed the urge to look behind him. Certainly they weren't going in circles - the grass didn't look like it had been walked in… But then again, if they had followed this route from the village, shouldn't it look walked in?

Rodney's indignant response interrupted his thoughts. "Oh, Really?"

"Really!"

"Then why is it the river is on the wrong side of us?"

John stopped walking. "What?"

Rodney, stopping beside him, "The river. On the way to the gate from the village it was on our right. It shouldn't be on our right on the way BACK to the village; it should be on our left."

John looked at the river and frowned, trying to remember. Damn! He recalled walking along the river when leaving the village and Rodney was correct, it was on their right. "And you're just mentioning this now?"

Rodney rocked on his toes, smug. "And here I thought we weren't lost… hmmm?"
