Fall and Fly

She stood in the Astronomy Tower watching the chaos. Black clouds covered the sky, rain was falling in torrents, and lightning struck far more times than normal.

She raised her hand in a graceful manner and watched it's effect as lightning struck again. She let the rain soak her. Chill her to the core. The year had not been good. Hell, it was the most fuking fun she ever had! She got betrayed by her closest frinds, she fell in love, she fell out of love, she orphaned.

She heard a faint creak signalicing someone else had entered her sanctuary.

"I know it's you." Hermione heard herself say.

"Will you listen to me here?" Draco said his voice pained.

"There is no excuse, my love." She said stepping up to the ledge of the Tower. Turning around, she faced him.

"Wh-What are you doing?" He asked nervously.

"You have to learn to fall. Fall and fly." She said looking at the floor as she made another graceful hand movement. Lightning flashed and lighted up both of their faces. Pain, sadness, anger, hurt. Everything was portrayed in that single look.

"You don't fly anywhere, you hear me? You stay here. With me." He said taking a step towards her.

She stopped him. Her long white dress billowing in the wind.

"Fall and fly" She repeated softly.

"What are you talking about?"

"Why did you have to finish breaking my heart in the last peices that were left?" Her voice broke.

"There's no excuse I could use to try and fix what I did. But I haven't been the same since I saw your face."

"Look at me. Do you see what I've become?" She said raising her arm in quiet questioning. "Don't just glace over with that glazed look you always have! Look at me!" She yelled.

It pained him too much, but he had to do it. He looked.

She had wings. Beautiful, regal, white wings.

She was an angel.

"You have to learn." She said more insistantly.

"Learn what? Love? Heart break? Just tell me! Come down, please." He begged

"You have to learn to fall and fly." She said again more sternly.

"Why?" Draco asked completely baffeled.

"Because the only way to fly is to fall. Fall and be free." She extended her arms to him.

He went over to her and stood on the ledge, where they held hands.

"I love you. Know that. I will forever love you." He said almost through tears.

"I love you. Know that too. No matter what happens or what comes your way, just remember three things. I love you, and remember to fall. Fall and fly. Like me. Remember that." She said and she looked at the door.

Someone bounded up the stairs and crashed open the door.

It was Harry.

"Draco! Hermione! It's-" He broke down crying.

"What's wrong Harry?" Draco asked going down to his newly found friend.

"I wish I could've done something! She could've told me! If only I hadn't shunned her..." Harry kept repeating again and again over his sobs.

"What happened, Harry? Just tell me!" Draco said forcefully pulling his friend to his feet.

"Hermione...She's...dead."

Looking over to the ledge he saw nothing and crumpled to the floor with heart wrenching sobs.

She said goodbye.

She said she loved him one last time.

Most importantly, she told him to fall and fly.
