"Do try a distort, my dear Duchess," the Queen of Hearts said, motioning towards a plate of tartlets.
Reaching across the table, he took one, placing it on his plate. The Duchess watched the Queen pick hers up and bite into it, before trying his own. "Hmmm… it's very good."
She smiled. "Why thank you! If you'd like I can have one of my Grells give Cook the recipe."
"Thank you! That's very kind of you!" The Duchess sipped his tea. Setting down his teacup, the Duchess picked up the distort and finished it. "May I please have another?"
"But of course! Ten of diamonds!" the Queen said as one of the Grells, standing in attendance, stepped forward. "Would you like more tea?"
"Thank you. This is the best unbirthday party I've ever been to."
The Queen smiled, "Thank you, my dear! I'm so glad you could come!" She sipped her tea, and changing the subject, she asked, "Do you know anything about this Ciel…?"
"Well, she did fall through my roof the other day…" The Duchess tittered nervously.
"Yes?"
"And then she destroyed the place… my poor kitty was so upset!"
"I'll bet…" the queen said dryly. "If you'd like, I suppose some of my Grells can help you fix it."
"You're too kind, my Queen!" The duchess smiled wanly. "So how's your sister, the White Queen?"
The Queen rolled her eyes. "Silly as ever! All she does is knit all day long! You know, just between you and me…" she leaned towards the Duchess, "if she spends any more time with her wool and needles, I swear she'll turn into a sheep!"
"You don't say!"
"But I do!"
They laughed.
"Party over! Good day, Duchess!"
"Good day to you too, my Queen!" he said, getting up to leave…
