Fai had woken up late into the night, the moon's beams shone through the silk curtain's of the room casting shadows over the bed. Kurogane lay sleeping beside him. The blonde had awoke with a start, his dram fading quickly into the receses of his mind. Only the feeling of helplessness and forlorning were left behind. He held a hand to his forehead, and wiped the sweat from his brow.
His gaze turned to the man beside him. Kurogane's chest rose with each breath, and the frown that was usually in place had softened. Fai rested on an elbow as he turned to face the man. Hos other hand running through the black spikes of hair.
The mage's smile faultered, as he looked at the man's sleeping form. Kurogane had given so much for him, and he had come to realize, slowly, why he had saved him and sacrificed so much for him. Now Kurogane had lost his arm, had lost his sword, and had given up his freedom all for Fai. Now all Fai could do was stay by the others side, and hope that was enough.
Fai had stopped his petting, the uneasiness he had felt from his now forgotten dream renewed by his thoughts. Kurogane stirred from slumber, his body missing the touch of the slim fingers. The ninja's right arm moved to his left, scratching the bandage's that were still wrapped around him. Fai frowned, he had been this cause of that, but Kurogane had told him to stop being an idiot, that it was his descion to make.
"What are you doing awake?" Fai had been startled from his thoughts.
"Thinking, and if anyone should be asleep it's you Kuro-tan." Kurogane didn't anger over the nickname, simply stared at the blonde beside him.
"Go to sleep, Tomoyo wanted to get you fitted for a kimono tomorrow and you need all the enrgy you can get for something like that."
"It seems you have experience being dressed up?"
"Hell no, when she's in one of her 'dress up' mood's I make sure I'm busy." Kurogane wrapped his arm around Fai's waist and pulled the other to his chest. Fai chuckled at the man's response. Seeing Kurogane cower from Tomoyo would be something he'd have to see.
"I'd like to see that." Fai's hand laid on Kurogane's chest, careful off the bandages. They stayed like that for what seemed like hour's, reveling in eachother's touch and warmth. The mage buried his nose into the side of Kurogane's face.
"The healer said that I should be able to walk around."
"I'm glad, Big Puppy can show me around then."
"You mean Tomoyo hasn't given you a tour yet?"
"Nope, everyone's been busy taking care of us and the kids." They lay in silence, Fai kissing the jawline in front of him.
"What you have seen, do you like it?"
"Yes, it's very beautiful. Everything here is in bloom, the air is even scented. I know why Kuro-wanko always talked about his home." The arm wrapped around the blonde tightened, Kurogane nuzzled Fai's face.
"Will you stay?" It was a simple question. Fai looked up into garnet eye's looking at the face to see what he meant.
"When we're done helping the kid's, will you come back and stay here with me?" They looked at each other trying to guage the others reaction's. Kurogane cupped Fai's face, fingering the eye patch the blonde wore.
"Yes...I would like that." They kissed.
"Now let's go to sleep, there's alot to be done."
"Of course Kuro-koi, you can show me around tomorrow." Both feel asleep for the second time that night, eaching thinking of what was to come, how they had this brief moment of happiness and how tomorrow would begin the rest of their lives.
