A/N Kings is my new fancy, though not my favorite, and I hope you enjoy this small piece of David/Michelle fanfiction!

Captain David Shepherd could never quite peg what he liked about Michelle Benjamin. Sure, her beauty enchanted him, attracted him, but something drew him to her. Even apart, he found that his thoughts often drifted to her.

That day, the day peace was declared; it might have been the happiest and saddest of his life at the same time. His brother died. He kissed Michelle Benjamin. And she kissed him back.

David also admired Michelle. While most of her family sent someone to do as they pleased, it was her herself who went and helped his mother. Not to mention that she fought for what she believed in.

Ever since the riot at Port Prosperity, it seemed unspoken that Michelle forgave David for kissing the other girl. Perhaps she saw his guilt in shadows reflected in the eyes that always captured her attention. The eyes that showed him completely to her. His naivety, his honesty, his care, and all of his other emotions were entombed there.

David cared, maybe loved, Michelle. When she entered the fort, worry obvious on her face. He entered to stop his brother and to make sure nothing happened to her. Life would have been different, too different without her. He would have gone on, but so much would have changed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David and Michelle were silently together. Only behind closed doors were they free to do and say as they wanted. In the open, where the press could reach them, they rarely showed affection, only caught holding hands once or twice. Nothing more than the common courtesy a princess shows a guest.

And they were fine with that…together.

A/N This is incredibly short, although I rather liked it. Maybe I'll more later.
