Chapter One: Lost in thought

A tall black haired teenage boy lay sprawled on his unmade bed, kicking his legs up and down, trying to concentrate on his summer homework, but failing miserably.

His name was Sirius Black, he was seventeen years old, he was full of life and would forever love to cause mischief, it was in his nature to play pranks and crack jokes. His joy will fill a room, putting a smile on most faces.

As his mind began to wonder another boy with messy black hair, hazel eyes and glasses came into the room and smiled "Padfoot, am I going insane, or are you possessed" James Potter laughed staring at his friend, who happened to be doing his homework and in the summer no less, "oh shove off, Prongs" the boy snapped back.

James frowned and walked over to Sirius placing his hand on the other boy's forehead, "well you're not running a fever" James told him "what's the matter Paddy? You've been rather quiet since the summer started" James asked worriedly, concerned about his usually very loud friend quietness.

"I'm fine, Jamie-boy, really I am" Sirius insisted, looking up at his best friend. James frowned again, but left it alone, well for now at lest.

James sat down on his own bed and began to doodle in his 'I'm so in love with Lily Evans' notebook, the book was filled with little sketches and notes all about the beautiful red-headed girl.

Sirius to was lost in thought, though his thoughts were not about a girl, no his thoughts belonged to a certain tawny haired werewolf.

Yes it was true, he Sirius Orin Black, was in love with one of his best friends and was scared, scared of how Remus and the others would react to this piece of information.

The teen looked down at the piece of parchment that had once been his charms home work, but now was covered in words to do with one Remus John Lupin. One particular thing that stuck out on the page was a poem.

'We sit together under the moon; I hold your hand as you rest you head

The glowing silver light leaves your face to be read, I look into those amazing amber orbs, they tell a story of your past, they send me into your heart. And so my sweet wolf, our night has just begun, I just wish we could forever lay here as one'

The poem had been inspired by the many nights the Marauders had spent outside late at night under the silver moon.

And now the summer had begun, and Remus was holidaying with his family in France, much to the disappointment of Sirius and James, who were spending the summer at James's parent's house.

Sirius was now drawing a picture of him and Remus, flying on his motorbike, a just married sign tied to the back, Sirius sighed and turned to James "wanna go fly Penelope with me?" he asked James, who loved to fly the bike with him.

James jumped at the idea and quickly scurried out of the room calling to Sirius to hurry up. "Hurry Paddy, Penny is calling to us"

The two boys spent their afternoon, flying around on Penelope, scaring the birds as they did so and very much enjoying themselves, both their minds off of those who they pined for.

Little did they know this summer would be one they'd never forget, but is was yet to begin.
