Starter Sentence: "There was a time when my family was extremely happy."

There was a time when my family was extremely happy…well, I wouldn't say 'extremely.' Just happy. But those days are long gone and they will never be regained. Do I wish they could be? Only half so to be honest with you. They weren't completely happy for me. My father never really cared for me; I was too unlike him and he really didn't know what to do with me…it's sad really. Sure, my mother loved me, but a mother's love can only get a man so far, he needs a father's strong and guiding hand in his life. I never got that, maybe that was why I turned out so…weak. But it's not his fault…it was mine…always mine…I shouldn't have tried so hard to be different…should've tried to be more like him.
