DISCLAIMER- I do not own Warriors

I looked at all the cats chatting happily. Everyone's happy. Not me though, it was the day before it. Tomorrow he would pay. Are you there Xena? I looked up to the bright blue sky. Xena is my best friend. One thing though, she's not here in the forest, she's elsewhere. She is however, a true warrior princess.

Flashback-

"Windpaw, Look at this!" Xena called as she chased a black butterfly the same color as herself across the field.

I looked at the ebony butterfly, "It looks like you!" I giggled.

"Windpaw, What are you doing here?" my mentor, Hareflight, called angrily.

"Uhh…" I opened my jaw but I couldn't speak.

"We were playing!" Xena exclaimed "Ooops," the black butterfly lay at her paws with a tear in its wing. It tried to fly but then lay still. "I'm sorry," I heard her murmur to the dead butterfly.

"Irresponsible!" said a nasty voice. Oh no! It's Larkwing! I thought, panicking.

Suddenly, Larkwing sprang out and knocked Xena to the ground.

"A loner, come to steal our prey" he snarled.

"No!" Hareflight and I screeched.

We were too late. Xena screamed as Larkwing bit her throat. Blood splattered on the green grass. I launched myself at Larkwing. I knocked him to the ground. Yet, I couldn't bring myself to kill him. Instead Hareflight pinned him down and nodded to me. I checked Xena. She was breathing, but they were quick and shallow. I was about to grab her scruff when I heard her voice.

"Don't bother Windpaw, I had the time of my life with you" she coughed up more blood. I tried to protest but she cut me off, "Everything comes at a price, so I'm going to pay now but don't you forget me Windpaw. You're my best friend forever."

"So are you," I murmured my voice getting louder, "Why can't you stay here!?"

I got no response. I flung myself at Xena and stayed there unmoving. I shall avenge you Xena, but not today. I will in one year. This exact day and time, I promise.
