Sadness overwhelming

The Doctor walked into the TARDIS.

"It's just you and me," He said. "They can't stay forever. They never do." Shaking his head sadly, he sat down in a cushy chair.

The Doctor thought of all the good times he'd had with his companions. Rose's face came to mind.

"Sweet Rose." The Doctor murmured.

The TARDIS whirled.

"Yes, I know. No sense in pondering on the things that can never happen." He stood up.

"Where should we go now?" He asked his machine. "Rome?" He asked as a picture of Rome came onto a screen. "No, been there, done that." He watched as another picture flashed on the screen. "Britain War World Two? No, that won't do. Done that too." He scowled. "It's much easier when someone else chooses for you." He thought for a moment. Where would Rose want to go? No, don't think about Rose.

"Let's go to Hawaii." He said suddenly. "Haven't been there in a long time."

The TARDIS whirled as it took off then landed after a minute. "Good girl," He told her.

He opened the TARDIS doors and looked out. "Good ole Hawaii." He grinned through his sadness.

Making sure he had the TARDIS key in his trench coat pocket, he locked it then strolled off down the sidewalk where the TARDIS had landed him. He passed a shop and looked in its window.

"Ah, those bring back memories." He smiled as he stared at the manikin. More memories of Rose.

The Doctor pulled himself away from the window and continued walking.

He took in the sights as he walked on, trying to keep his mind off of Rose.

"New York Gazette! Get yer paper now!" A man called from the sidewalk.

"Sur, you wan' one?" The man asked as the Doctor passed him.

The Doctor shook his head. A flashback played in his mind.

They had just traveled to New New York and Rose was asking,

"What's the city called?"

The Doctor replied, "New New York."

Rose thought the Doctor was joking. "Oh come on." She said.

"It is. It's the city of New New York. Strictly speaking, it's the fifteenth New York since the original. So that makes it New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New York." The Doctor replied.

"Sur, yer 'k?" The man asked, snapping the Doctor out of his memories.

"Yes, yes, fine, just fine." The Doctor replied in a daze. He stumbled over to a nearby bench and sat down.

"When will these memories stop haunting me?" He whispered hoarsely.

"Why does she torture me so?" He cupped his head in his hands and cried silently, tears running down his cheeks and onto his coat.

"Mate, are you okay?" A familiar voice came to the Doctor's ears.

The Doctor looked up and to his surprise, amazement, shock, joy, every emotion possible, stood a girl in front of him. Rose Tyler.
