Beck woke up to a sound that he did not like. It was the sound of Jade coughing. She had a deep cough and she was shivering in her sleep.

Damn

he thought, she must be sick

She woke up and groaned. Her stomach was killing her and she had the chills.

"UGH," she groaned, "It's freazing"

Beck felt her forehead. She was burning up. Before he could say another word she leaned foward and grabbed his garbage pale throwing up.

"Come on," he said gently grabbing her up.

"Where are we going," she asked him.

"We're going to the hospital," Beck said, "You're sick"

"I'd rather be with you," Jade said shivering

"There's plenty of time for that," he said, "But if something's wrong and OBVIOUSLY something is wrong we need to get to the heart of what is making you sick."

...

"It's my girlfriend," Beck told the doctor, "She's shivering and throwing up and her stomach is hurting really badly."

"Alright," the doctor said, "We'll get her in for an ultrasound ASAP."

"C-c-can he come too," Jade asked.

The doctor nodded.

...

"Mr. Oliver your girlfriend has a ruptured apendix," the doctor said, "She needs emergancy surgery imediately but I have to be honest with you. She may not make it."

That felt like an electric shock to Beck's system. In the ER he paced the halls back and forth freaking out. Jade could die... from a simple appendicties. That's not fair. He didn't want her to die. He loved her. He couldn't live without her. He thought of all the pointless arguments they had. It was so stupid. They wasted so much time fighting... precious time he could have spend with his Jade.

He knew she hated it when they fought. He knew she would calm down a little bit after they made up but he didn't realize that they wouldn't have all the time in the world to make up. He wished he could go back and get back that time with her.

...

Jade was on the operating table and felt her spirit leave her body. She floated into the ER where she saw Beck pacing.

"Jade," he said though he knew she couldn't hear him or didn't think she could, "You have to hold on. You know how you always say that it's worth it to hold on... it's better when you do hold on. You need to hang on. It will be well worth it I promise."

Those words struck a cord with her. He had said those words to her once when Jade was so frustrated she was literally tugging at her hair.

"Okay honey I know how frustrating this is but you have to hold on. It will be well worth it in the end"

"It's just so unfair," she said

"I know," he told her, "It will be well worth it in the end though

"

He was right. It was well worth it. But she couldn't say that it wasn't a struggle. But this like before was a fight well worth it. She was fighting for Beck.

...

"Mr. Oliver," the doctor said, "Jade will be fine. It was touch and go for awhile but we managed to get the apendix out and irragate the poision"

Beck cried in relief. Jade would be alright. Nothing else mattered at that moment.

"When can I-"

"Not until she wakes from recovery," the doctor said.

"Please let me come in with her," Beck said, "I want to be the first face she sees when she wakes up"
