There was a festival to celebrate the coming of the new year. Boromir sat next to his father, feeling grumpy and mean as he watched the many masses of people dancing and eating. They all looked so happy. **Stupid happy people** He thought. Then someone caught his eye, a woman. Standing with her back to him, he saw that she was tall, a few inches taller than most other women. She had long brown hair that flowed down below her waist and reminded him of the darkest chocolate. He looked at her slender shoulders and narrow waist leading to womanly hips. She turned towards him and he almost gasped out loud. Her face was beautiful and strong, with eyes the color of the bluest sky, a small nose, and a mouth that was large but in the best way. She was standing apart from the large crowd, smiling and seeming to be in her own little world. Boromir muttered a few words to his father and stood up, almost running to this strange woman. He stood next to her for a few seconds but she didn't seem to notice his presence so he cleared his throat. She blinked and looked at him, her cheeks reddening and a small smile on her lips.
"May I have the honor of this dance?" He asked with a small bow and a smile of his own. Her smile widened as she bowed in answer and Boromir swept her into his arms and they were soon lost in the music as well as each other. They spent that whole night together, laughing and talking and dancing. Boromir learned that her name was Arinen, she was about two years younger than he was, and her smile was enough to make his knees go weak and his stomach flutter. It took him until the wee hours of the morning, when the festival was almost over, before he got up enough nerve to kiss her. It was a small kiss, it only lasted a few moments, but afterwards as they looked into each other's eyes they both knew that they would be together until death. They had found love in a matter of hours.
Arinen smiled, looking into Boromir's eyes. Those eyes, she knew, would be the death of her. If his laugh didn't drown her first. Oh, Goodness, that laugh. The first time she heard him laugh she was sure that she was going to pass out, luckily his arms were already around her as they danced so she didn't fall over when her knees almost gave out. He was maybe an inch taller than she was, and that proved to be the perfect height for them to look into each other's eyes. Her heart nearly stopped as he held her hands in his and leaned closer to her and kissed her, in fact she knew that the world must have stopped because the only thing that moved was their lips and her trembling hands. The kiss was proper, they were in public after all, but the emotion harbored behind it was unmistakable. He smiled a bit and promised to see her again soon, then slowly let her hands drop from his and he disappeared into the early morning light.
