I woke up to the dark.

It was pouring out. I looked next to me and saw April wasn't in her spot beside me.

I sighed and rolled out of bed and threw on a clean shirt and pants as I walked into the living room and saw Mark reading the paper.

"Wheres April?" I mumbled.

He looked up. "Not sleeping?" I shook my head.

"I don't know. Maybe shes out... buying?" He asked cautiously.

I looked out the window onto the fire escape and watched the rain drops streak down the glass.

"Nah. I know where she is." I said, shrugging into my leather jacket and walking out the door.

But instead of going down, I went up to the roof.

When I opened the door to the roof. I looked around at the pounding rain. It was pouring even harder up here.

That's when I saw that streak of red fiery hair dance past me gracefully.

I focused in on her and saw that as she twirled around, her hair slapped her face, making a small sound of wetness.

She threw her arms up to the sky as she spun gracefully, her legs crossing over each other like a ballet dancer.

"You never cease to amaze me." I yelled over the rain.

She immediately stopped and looked my way. "Yeah? How's that?" She screamed back, a smile bright on her face.

"Well." I said softer, as I walked towards her. "One minutes your doped up on crack, the next your dancing in the rain like theres not a problem in the world."

Her smile didn't falter. "I'm just practicing." She explained.

"Oh yeah?" I humored her.

She took my hand in hers and swung her hips, urging me to slow dance with her.

"Yup."

"What you practicing sweetheart?"

"Well. Technically we're practicing."

"And what are we practicing for?" She smiled and took something out of her pocket.

She took my hand and slipped a gold band around my ring finger. "Our wedding." And she rested her head against my chest as we danced in the rain.
