"Oh, mommy! Can we get this one, pretty please???" Renesmee begged, with her big brown eyes pleading, cupping her hands together and jutting her lip out.
"I'm not the one buying the Christmas tree," Bella said. She chuckled. "Ask your uncle." Renesmee turned to Emmett and jumped into his arms.
"Please, Uncle Emmett?" She prodded. He pursed his lips thoughtfully.
"Um…" he said, thinking it over real hard.
"C'mon…I'll love you forever." She said, pressing her nose to his cheek. Oh, no. He is defenseless against the bunny-nose!
"Oh, alright, Nessie! I'll go get the ax." He said.
"Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you!" she said wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Jeez, Emmett. You gave up too easily. You know it's going to be hard to get this tree through the door." Rosalie scoffed, perched on the little wagon that brought us to this field.
"Well, I'm sorry! But come on. She did the bunny-nose! The stinking bunny-nose!"
"How come my bunny-nose doesn't work on you, Emmett?" I pouted.
"Because, Alice, you aren't a little kid and it usually has to do with something senseless and stupid." He said, while kicking snow at my shoes.
I immediately plopped down in the snow, pulled my legs to my chest, and jutted my lower-lip out. I sniffled, pretending to blink tears from my eyes. He kneeled down beside me wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
"I mean, you're bunny-nose is really cute, but Renesmee is just a little girl and it's only fair…" He quickly changed what he was going to say, see that it wasn't working as I laid my chin on my knees. "But I love you, too, because you're my little sister, and please forgive me, and—and I'll even take you shopping. I'll pay. Just don't be sad."
"Ah! Oh my god! Thank-you, Emmett! I love you, and you are the best big brother ever!" I squeaked, clutching at his neck.
"You're welcome." He grumbled, immediately feeling like an imbecile. He picked up the ax and took a whack at it and it immediately fell. We loaded it up. Once we got it to the truck we headed back to our cars. Emmett walked with his arm slung around Rosalie's waist, and she had her arm draped over his shoulder. Edward and Bella walked hand in hand, and Renesmee clung to Edward's leg, sitting on his foot as he walked. Jasper carried me piggy-back, trailing behind Emmett and Rosalie. We seemed so much like a family, it was scary. We fit so well together. The sun was setting and we were standing by the car.
"This Christmas is going to be especially wonderful." Renesmee crooned.
"Agreed." We all said together. We ended the day with a bug group hug.
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me: A Partridge in a Pear Tree
