I haven't seen an episode of Victorious since it ended. Few days ago, I was bored watching TV and saw that Victorious was on. It was, The Worst Couple. While watching I got inspired to write this story. And because I constantly get asked to make the kids older in my story, BLYL (not gonna happen) this is my way of a treat.
Jade and Beck are not rich and famous in this story.
/ / / / / / / / / / /
Jade and Beck are married with their five children, quintuplets. The kids are eleven and attend middle school. Jade and Beck both work average jobs and are struggling to provide for their family. They live in a small, three bedroom house.
Thursday morning, the kids all sat in the kitchen taking their time as they ate breakfast. Beck sat with them, working on his laptop. Jade walked into the kitchen and sighed at the sight of her children.
Jade: Why is Carolyn always late picking them up for school?
Jade walked over to the counter to pour herself a cup of coffee.
Robbie: Maybe we can walk to school on our own?
Cat: Oh yeah, and we can sneak to the arcade like last time.
Cat looked around and observed the disapproving looks from her parents and the angry glances from her siblings. She gasped.
Cat: Oh my God, I just gave away our secret. Forget I said that.
Andre: You know Cat, whenever we say, don't let mom and dad know.
Andre leaned in closer to his sister.
Andre: We mean, don't let mom and dad know.
Cat: I'm sorry, it slipped.
The kids all groaned at Tori's ringing Nintendo 3DS XL game. Tori sighed pressing buttons, desperately trying to stop the loud noise.
Tori: It keeps acting up.
Jade: Your game is making noise.
Beck rolled his eyes annoyed looking at Jade.
Beck: I think she knows, everyone knows.
Jade: You don't know what anyone knows.
Beck: I know your being obnoxious.
Jade: Oh, really?
Jade gave Beck a quick glare.
Tori: Robbie could you please, plug in the charger. I think it's because of the low battery.
Tori passed the cord across the table to Robbie. He stood up walking over to the wall.
Robbie: Plugging in things makes me nervous.
Trina: Why?
The family all winced at the loud gaming device.
Robbie: I could get electrocuted and then-
Jade looked over from stirring her coffee.
Jade: Plug it in!
Robbie quickly plugged in the charger, quieting the noisy gaming device.
Tori: Thanks.
Andre: Why is your game being so, dumb?
Tori: I don't know, it's new. It should work fine.
Andre: How many times have you dropped it in the toilet?
Tori: Only three times.
Trina: Are you counting the time when I dropped it in?
Tori: You what?
Trina: Four times.
Tori shook her head.
Tori: It never stays charged and it won't stop being annoying.
Beck: Don't worry princess, I'll buy you a new one.
Jade: You're not buying her a new one.
Beck: She needs-
Jade: That's not important, we have bills to pay.
Beck: You don't know what I have in my account.
Jade: Oh so you're hiding money from me?
Beck: No, I just-
Jade: Hiding money from this family.
Beck: Just forget it!
Jade: Don't tell me to forget it!
Robbie: I think I'm lactose and tolerant.
Jade and Beck looked over to Robbie confused, as he pushed his cereal bowl away.
Andre: You should just get a new one. Trade it in.
Tori: No, because I don't want another 3DS XL.
Trina: What else is there?
Tori: I heard the 3DS XXL is coming out next month.
Andre: Seriously? They announced it?
Tori: No, but I read about it on the internet.
Robbie: You can't trust the internet.
Cat: Just get another XL.
Tori: No. Because if I get the XL what if the XXL comes out after?
Jade: I don't know why you're talking about getting a new Nintendo.
The kids all looked over to Jade.
Jade: Your father can barely afford to keep our lights on let alone buy a new stupid game.
Beck: Like I said, you don't know what I have in my account.
Jade: Oh, really?
Jade and Beck exchanged threatening looks. Beck's brother Ben walked into the kitchen.
Ben: Good morning! Why don't I smell any bacon cooking?
Jade: What the hell are you doing in this house?
Ben shrugged taking Cat's bagel out her hand.
Ben: You are the ones who never lock your door.
Beck: What are you doing here?
Ben: Remember that woman who I've been dating?
Beck: Yeah, so?
Ben: Her father invited me to dinner tonight and asked to meet my family.
Jade: We're not your family.
Ben: He wants to take us out to, Urasawa.
Trina: Ura, what?
Ben: Urasawa. It's one of the most expensive restaurants here in LA.
Andre: Are they rich or something?
Robbie: That's so cool.
Ben: Her father is a TV show producer.
Trina: TV show producer? He can make me, famous!
Ben: I want all of you to come. Even Jade.
Jade: No thanks, bye.
Beck: We'll be there.
Ben: It's tonight. I'll text you the details.
Beck: Do you think you can give the kids a ride to school?
Ben: Sorry, not going that way. See you, tonight.
Ben walked out the kitchen to leave the house.
Cat: He stole my bagel.
Tori sighed as her gaming device became noisy, again.
Jade: I can't take that stupid game anymore, turn it off.
Trina: Yeah, it's annoying.
Cat: I hear it in my, sleep.
Tori: Okay, fine! Robbie, unplug it, please.
Robbie stood up from the table to unplug the charger, the gaming device stopped it's noise. Beck stood up and walked over to the counter. He grabbed the brown paper bags to give to the kids.
Beck: If you leave now, you won't be late.
Tori: Why can't you drive us?
Jade: Because your father is too cheap to pay for gas.
Beck: We're out of lunch meat.
Beck walked over to the table setting the bags down.
Beck: I have one turkey and cheese, and four peanut butter and jelly.
Andre: Which is the turkey?
Beck pointed to a bag, Robbie reached out to grab it.
Trina: It's mine! I want it!
Trina reached over Robbie grabbing the bagged lunch.
Robbie: Trina, I want the turkey sandwich.
Trina: No, I hate peanut butter!
Robbie: Give it!
Trina: No!
Trina and Robbie tugged on the bag lunch.
Trina: Let go, Robbie!
Trina pushed Robbie, knocking him out his chair.
Cat: Are you okay?
Robbie groaned getting up.
Robbie: I'm fine.
Robbie snatched a bag from the table, he walked out the kitchen.
Jade: You wouldn't have fights like this if your father gave me money to go, grocery shopping.
Beck: I'm not the only one bringing an income into this house!
Tori, Cat, and Andre quickly grabbed their lunches from the table. The four kids rushed out the kitchen.
Beck: Where is your money? Huh?
Jade: Paying for our expenses! That's where!

Later that evening, the family met with Ben, and his girlfriend's father at the restaurant. They were all dressed to impress. Wearing their best clothes.
Reynold: Thank you for coming. It's great meeting, Ben's family.
Beck: We're happy to be, here. Thanks for inviting us.
Beck glared at Jade as she sat bored, texting on her phone.
Trina: So, are you like a major TV producer?
Reynold: I wouldn't say, major-
Trina: Can I be on your show? Please? I wanna act, I can act.
Reynold: Aw, isn't that cute. With a few acting classes you can prepare yourself for auditions.
Trina: Audtions? Just put me on TV. That's all I want.
Beck: Trina, stop.
Tori: Cat, look under the table and see if you see a plug.
Cat: A plug? For what?
Tori: My charger. I need to charge my game.
Beck: Tori, it's rude of you to play your game at the dinner table.
Tori: But dad, I need to beat a level.
Beck: Put it away.
Reynold: That's okay. Kids will be kids, right?
Cat whispered in Tori's ear.
Tori: Oh. Could you plug this in behind you?
Tori pointed to the wall.
Reynold: Uh, sure.
Tori: Here, I'll hand it to you under the table.
Reynold: Oh, okay.
The man reached under the table, taking Tori's charger. He plugged it into the wall behind him.
Tori: Yay, my game is on.
Andre: Now I can help you get to the next level.
Later during dinner, after ordering and waiting, everyone was finally enjoying their meal.
Reynold: I'm taking my yacht out on the ocean, maybe if two would like to join-
Jade: I don't go in the ocean.
Beck looked at Jade, annoyed.
Beck: Just let him finish the question.
Jade: I don't like the ocean.
Beck: We are trying to support my brother with his girlfriend.
Jade: You know what happened to me when I was a kid and went into the ocean.
Beck: The dolphin was just being friendly!
Cat: Oh my gosh, I love dolphins. They're cute, do tricks, and I saw a movie about one.
Robbie: The movie when the dolphin solved crimes?
Andre: What was the name of that movie?
Tori: Detective Blowhole.
Robbie: Oh, yeah.
The kids all laughed as they imitated dolphin sounds. Jade and Beck sat annoyed.
Andre: We should watch that when we get home.
Ben: We are trying to have an adult discussion. Hush!
The kids all stopped.
Jade: Dolphins creep me out so I will not go in the ocean.
Ben: Just say yes or no!
Jade: No!
Beck: Maybe I wanted to go!
Jade: I don't care!
Beck: I'm not happy with our relationship!
The restaurant grew quiet at Jade and Beck's shouting. All eyes were focused on them.
/ / / / / / / / / / / /
The next day, Friday. The kids had just gotten home from school. Beck's mother dropped them off. They were always home alone for half an hour before their parents get home. Tori was sitting at the kitchen table doing, homework. Robbie walked into the kitchen, hiding his hands behind his back.
Robbie: Hello, sister Tori.
Tori sighed, frustrated.
Tori: Robbie, I'm trying to do, algebra. I don't want to be bothered.
Robbie: That's rude to say to your bother. Who fixed your 3DS.
Robbie revealed his hands handing Tori her game, she gasped.
Tori: Robbie, what did you do to it?
Robbie: I fixed it with duct tape.
Tori: For what? It didn't need duct tape. It looks like you destroyed it.
Robbie: I did. I dropped it down the stairs on accident.
Tori: It looks worse than before. How could you?
Robbie: I tried fixing the first problem, then this happened.
Tori: Great. Now how am I supposed to play Pokémon?
Robbie: You can have mine. Or trade this in for a used one.
Tori: No. If I get the XL, the XXL could come out the next day.
Tori handed Robbie back the gaming device.
Tori: Everyone at school would have the XXL while I'm stuck with the XL.
The two heard a car door slam from outside. Robbie peeked out the blinds.
Robbie: Mom and dad are home.
Tori: Oh, no. Not them.
Robbie rushed away out the kitchen. Tori collected her things from the table before rushing out. The kids all ran up the stairs to their bedrooms to avoid their parents. Jade and Beck walked into the house.
Jade: I'm done talking about this!
Beck: I'm not!
Jade stomped up the stairs, Beck stomped up behind her.
Jade: God, Beck! Why are you being so clingy?
Beck: We have to talk about this!
Jade: Stop following me!
Jade walked into her bedroom, she tried slamming the door shut, Beck walked in pushing it open. He closed it shut.
Beck: Stop being so childish.
Jade: I'm childish? You're the one crying over some stupid dinner.
Beck: You embarrassed us in front of the restaurant.
Jade shrugged.
Beck: And in front of a big TV producer.
Jade: What? You're still dreaming of becoming an actor. Give it up!
Beck: You never know when I could get a role.
Jade: Why do you care about what some stupid strangers think of us?
Beck: Because when we go out, I want people to think we're a happy couple!
Cat opened the door walking into the bedroom.
Cat: Am I interrupting?
Jade and Beck sighed.
Cat: Look, I got an A on my history quiz.
Cat proudly held up her paper.
Beck: Cat, princess, come here.
Beck took Cat's hand.
Beck: I need your opinion on something?
Cat: Is it on, the Declaration of Independence?
Beck shook his head.
Beck: No.
Cat: Because I think it was amazing.
Beck: (sighs) Cat.
Cat: Seriously. Where would we be without it?
Beck: Cat!
Cat: Yes?
Beck: I need your opinion on, your mom and I.
Jade: Why are you bringing our kids into this?
Beck: Do you think your mom and I fight a lot?
Cat nervously nodded.
Cat: Yes.
Jade: But, all moms and dads fight a lot, don't they?
Cat: Sometimes, but you-
Jade: Yes or no!
Cat shrieked getting scared.
Beck: Let her talk!
Jade: You never listen to me talk!
Cat: I'm leaving now.
Cat turned to walk out the room.
Jade: No!
Jade grabbed Cat, standing her between her and Beck.
Jade: What is your point?
Beck: I'd like to have a wife who I can have a discussion with, without it turning into a screaming match!
Jade: I'd like to have a husband who wasn't so cheap all the time!
Cat: I just wanted to show you my, quiz.
Beck: How is it my fault they cut my hours?
Jade: You could find another job if you wanted to.
Beck: I can't believe how demanding you are!
Jade: Oh! So now you're calling me a bitch?!
Beck: Wait, what? Did I? Did I call her that?
Beck looked to Cat, she nervously shook her head.
Jade: Cat thinks we have a perfect marriage!
Beck: Cat, do we have a perfect marriage?
Cat: Um-
Jade: Don't answer that!
Beck: Answer it!
Jade: Say nothing!
Jade and Beck stood in each other's faces.
Beck: Come on!
Jade: You, come on!
Cat started to cry as she ran out the room. Jade and Beck stopped their yelling.
Beck: We made Cat, cry.
Jade: I have to go to the store.
Jade sighed walking out the room.
Beck: We're gonna have to finish this sooner or later!
Jade: Later!
Jade stomped down the stairs.
In the girls' room:
Cat sat on her bed as she cried into Tori's lap.
Cat: (crying) And then mom said dad called her the B word.
Trina: What? A bitch? Just say it.
Andre: All of their yelling is making my head hurt.
Tori: Did you guys hear them last night? I barely got any sleep.
Trina: I actually like being at school than being here.
Tori: Well, things are quiet now. Maybe they're done.
Andre: Yeah, for now.
Tori lifted Cat's head from her lap.
Tori: It will be okay Cat.
Cat: They didn't care about my history quiz.
The kids all turned to a corner hearing Robbie sniffling.
Trina: Robbie, are you crying?
Robbie: (crying) No. It's just, my allergies.
Robbie wiped away his tears.
Trina: Yeah, sure.
Andre walked over to the window, looking out. He saw the minivan missing from the driveway.
Andre: It looks like one of them is gone.
Tori: Do you think daddy is really unhappy with mom?
Trina: Sounds like it, doesn't it?
Cat: I'm not happy, because they're always yelling.
Robbie: Me neither. I hate it here with them.
Trina: Let's leave. Get out of here.
Tori: What?
Trina: Let's runaway from this.
Andre: You 're crazy. We can't runaway.
Trina: Yeah we can. Mom and dad barely notice us now.
Tori: What are you saying?
Trina: Let's leave. We deserve at least one quiet night of sleep.
Trina walked over to the closet, she grabbed a small bag.
Trina: I'm getting out of this place. I can't take it anymore.
Robbie: Where are you gonna go?
Trina: I don't know but anywhere is better than here.
Trina grabbed some clothes putting it into her bag.
Cat: Hey, that's my shirt.
Trina: If you guys were smart, you'd come with me.
Robbie: I'll go.
Andre: Robbie, no one is going anywhere.
Trina: Do you want to sit and wait for them to start yelling again?
/ / / / / / / / / / / / / /
The kids all packed their bags and left. They roamed the streets of their neighborhood and ended up at their Aunt's house. They were sitting in her dining room playing a card game.
Andre: This is payback.
Andre slammed his card on the table.
Andre: Draw four, Robbie.
Robbie: That's not fair.
Robbie frowned taking four cards from the deck.
Trina: Thank you, Andre. Uno out! I win. Again.
Trina slammed her card on the table as her siblings groaned.
Trina: Don't hate me because I'm pretty and lucky.
Robbie: Can we hate you because you're annoying and a sore winner?
Trina: There is no such thing as a sore winner.
Tori: Guys, I feel bad that we ran away.
Andre: I doubt they know we're not there.
Cat: They're always fighting. It gives me a bad feeling in my stomach.
Robbie: I don't wanna sit at home and watch them fight all night.
Andre: Can we play something else now? I'm getting bored.
Trina: Go fish?
Andre: With Uno cards?
Trina: Yeah, so?
The kids all threw their cards into the middle of the table.
Cat: Can I deal the cards this time?
Andre: Go for it.
Cat smiled as she collected the cards from the table.
Cat: This boy in my class taught me how to shuffle, ready?
Cat smiled as she tried shuffling the cards, she tossed the deck in the air, letting the cards fall all over.
Cat: That wasn't supposed to happen.
The doorbell rang, Brenda walked out from her kitchen.
Brenda: I got it.
Trina: Of course you do. We don't live here.
Brenda walked away to her front door as the doorbell rang, again.
Brenda: Coming!
Brenda opened her door, she stood nervous.
Brenda: Oh, it's you guys.
Jade and Beck looked into the house seeing their children seated in the dining room.
Beck: See? They're all here.
Jade and Beck walked into the house.
Beck: I told you, that they'd all be here.
The kids all sat quiet. They knew they were in trouble from the glare Jade was giving them.
Brenda: Look, I'm sorry I didn't call you when they showed up here.
Beck: Tell her why, they're here.
Jade looked at Brenda, waiting for her to answer.
Brenda: They're here because, uh, we were planning your surprise party?
Jade: What?
Andre stood up from his chair.
Andre: Alright! The reason we left is because you two are always screaming at each other!
Beck and Jade turned looking at Andre.
Andre: We can never get any sleep and your fights make Cat and Robbie cry!
Robbie: Wh-what? I never cried. He's lying.
Beck: See? We fight so much, even our own kids don't want us around.
Jade: Well maybe if you didn't piss me off we wouldn't fight.
Brenda: So, why don't you guys join for dinner? I'm almost done.
Beck: I don't want to be with you, if we're gonna fight all the time.
Jade: So, you want a divorce?
Beck: No, I didn't say that. I'm just-
Brenda: You guys might divorce? I've been waiting for this moment for so long.
Jade: Keep talking and you'll end up in the hospital.
Jade walked away to the front door.
Jade: Come on Beck! Get your kids and let's go!
Beck threw up his hands, upset.
Beck: I'm tired of fighting.
Jade turned from the door.
Jade: Okay, I am going to walk out this door and count to ten.
Cat: Don't forget three, because it's the most important number.
Jade rolled her eyes.
Jade: If I get to ten and you're not out there, I'm leaving you here.
Jade opened the door.
Jade: And we're over. I'm sick of you.
Jade walked out the door slamming it behind her.
Jade: One!
Brenda walked up behind Beck, she whispered into his ear.
Brenda: She doesn't deserve you.
Jade: Two!
Beck sighed.
Beck: Come on, get your stuff.
The kids stood up from the table.
Jade: Three!
Cat excitedly clapped her hands, Andre shook his head, stopping her.
Trina: Ow, Robbie! You stepped on my foot!
Robbie: Sorry Trina, I-
Trina kicked Robbie in his leg.
Robbie: Ow!
Tori: Trina!
Robbie: I said I was sorry!
Robbie pushed Trina away. She pushed him back.
Trina: Sorry's not good enough!
Trina and Robbie started shoving each other.
Tori: Watch out for me, don't push me.
Trina: Get out of the way!
Andre: I'm not in this. Why are you hitting me?
The four kids all stood shoving, Cat stood afraid.
Beck: Okay, that's enough! Break it up!
The group of kids all stopped at Beck's voice.
Jade: Seven.
Beck: Let's go.
Beck walked to the door, the kids followed behind with their things.
Jade: Eight.
Beck reached out grabbing the doorknob.
Jade: Nine.
Tori: Uh, dad?
Jade: Ten.
Beck didn't move, he stood froze. The kids all looked confusingly at each other. They heard Jade start up the minivan and drive off fast. Beck looked back to his children seeing their expressions.
Beck: Brenda, will you drive us home?
Brenda: Yeah, I'll take you after dinner.
Beck's sister hurried off to the kitchen.
Andre: Let's clean up.
Tori: Yeah, let's do that.
The kids all slowly walked over to the dining room.
Cat: I'll pick up the cards.
Andre: Make sure you get all fifty-two.
Cat: Sure.
Cat collected the cards from the table as she counted.
Cat: One, two, four, five.
Andre grabbed a few cards, helping Cat. Trina and Robbie sat down at the table. Tori stood worried, watching her dad as he sat on the couch with a blank expression.
/ / / / / / / / / / / / /
The next morning, Saturday, the kids hadn't seen Jade. She was hidden away in her bedroom. They took care of themselves. Four of them sat outside on the porch, enjoying the nice sunny morning eating popsicles.
Andre: Do you guys know what I know?
Cat: Know what?
Andre: Dad didn't come back last night like he said he would.
Robbie: Yeah, I noticed.
Tori: He's not here?
The boys shook their heads.
Tori: Wow. What do you think is going to happen?
Cat: Is my tongue blue?
Cat stuck out her tongue to her sister, Tori nodded. The door busted open as Trina ran out on the porch.
Trina: Guess what Tori?
Tori: What?
Trina: I just saw a commercial. With an announcement.
Robbie: For the new 3DS XXL?
Trina: Yep.
Tori: I told you guys it'd be out soon.
Trina: You're not getting it.
Tori: Yeah, I guess this is a bad time to ask.
Trina: I think it's stupid for them to get a divorce over dad not walking out at, ten.
Cat: Mom and dad are getting a divorce?
Tori: Cat, it's okay. We all saw it coming.
Andre: We don't know if it's gonna happen for sure.
Trina: It will.
Cat: Will we all be split up or something?
Tori: No. Nothing will happen to us.
Trina walked off the porch.
Robbie: Where are you going?
Trina: To the candy store. I have five dollars.
Andre: Did you ask mom?
Trina: No. Cover for me.
Trina walked away heading down the street.
Andre: Let me come too! I have some money.
Andre ran off the porch catching up with Trina.
Cat: How can they think about candy at a time like this?
Tori: It's gonna be okay. We are gonna be together.
Robbie: We don't even know if they're getting a divorce or not.
