Konzen cursed under his breath as he searched the grounds of Heaven, looking for his missing charge. Why did Goku always have to cause him grief? Had he forgotten that they were meeting Tenpou today?

It wasn't long before he heard Goku's voice a distance behind him. Konzen turned to see his small frame waving excitedly to him from a field of flowers.

"Hey Konzen! Look what I found!" Goku shouted on the blonde's approach. "Aren't they beautiful?"

Hands on his hips as he stood before the blanket of flowers, the god answered, his voice disinterested. "A bunch of flowers. The same flowers that are blooming all over the place up here. I must have seen these a thousand times if I've seen them once."

"But they're not the same as the others," Goku insisted, plucking one from the expanse of grass. He lifted it to give the god a better view. "The ones here look just like you!"

"Like me?" Konzen echoed.

"Yes! See-the petals are the same color as your eyes, and the center reminds me of your hair. What do they call these?"

Konzen frowned. "I don't know." He may have passed by them thousands of times, but he'd never bothered to learn what name was given to them. So strange to live like this, not interested in anything around oneself.

Goku smiled brightly. "Well, if they don't have a name, I'm going to call them Konzen flowers!"

"That's a silly name for a flower," Konzen remarked. It was strange how he could almost feel heat rising to his cheeks and a strange fluttering in his belly. It's not as though the little creature truly meant anything by his words.

The god turned to look at the field of violet that seemed to stretch toward the horizon. He watched how the gentle breeze made the blossoms sway to and fro, and inhaled their fragrant scent. Goku was right, though. They were very beautiful. And maybe, so was he.

After a few moments of gazing, Konzen noticed that Goku was no longer beside him. Looking over his shoulder, he saw Goku with a lock of blonde hair in his hands, lips pressed to golden strands.

"You'd better not be trying to pull out more of my hair!" Konzen snapped with his fist balled up, shaking it. "I still have a bald spot from the last time!"

"Okay! Okay!" Goku answered quickly, dropping Konzen's locks to shield himself from a blow that never fell. He cracked one eye open just to make sure before dropping his hands. Konzen made a disapproving sound, shaking his head before turning away. Sometimes, the sun could scorch with a searing heat that made you run for shelter, and other times, it could bathe you in warmth that made you yearn to run through sunlit fields. Yes, Konzen was just like the sun that Goku remembered from below.

Konzen turned after walking a few paces and realizing that Goku hadn't followed. "Are you coming?" he asked. "Or are you going to stand there and starve. It's lunch time."

Goku's eyes widened as he cheered. He'd forgotten that they were going to meet Ten-chan for lunch. He was a good cook!

Konzen sighed at the sight of his small charge jumping up and down before following him. Heading towards Tenpou's rooms, he wondered how he let himself be burdened by caring for the bundle of energy following behind him, and when he had started not to mind so much.
