Chapter 1 Mottled purple brusing assualts his lower back and torso as I try to help charlotte pull his shirt off. He hisses at us in pain and then curses,"bloody hell"under his breath, we stop for a moment and I put my hand to his forehead,he's burning up,"char feel,he's really hot"i say, "oh goodness yes,your right tessa,hopefully Jem and henry will get back soon"she says. Tears stream down pale cheeks as he gives me a very much so pained look with his diamond blue eyes,he never cries,not at least in the time i've known him, but Charlotte seems to know what to do,as she lifts him gently and holds him against her chest. "shh,shh,shh,it's alright sweetheart,you'll be ok Will"she says in a tender motherly voice, a tremor runs the length of his strong frame as he once again winces,"shh,Tessa if you don't mind will you go get a wet wash cloth"she asks me quietly, "yes,i'll be back in a second"i say. Igo and get the wet washcolth and fill the bowl in the bathroom with cool water,then come back. When I get back I hear somebody gently singing something that sounds like a lullaby, "Huna blentyn ar fy mynwes clyd a chynnes ydyw hon; breichiau mam,sy'n dynn amdanat cariad mam sy dan fy,mron. Translation: To my lullaby surrender, Warm and tender is my breast; Mother's arms with love caressing Lay their blessing on your rest; Nothing shall tonight alarm you, None shall harm you, have no fear; I gently open the door and I find Charlotte is sitting on the bed stroking Will's forehead as I quietly approach the side and set the bowl of water on the bedside table by the dim glowing kerosene lamp. Very gently Charlotte takes the rag out of the bowl and starts to stroke his chest and stomach with it where he is coverend in blood. After she is done I sit down on the bed and I can see his chest painfully rising up and down,pain getting worse with every breath, as he lays down between us and I can tell we are in for a long night. Once he is asleep I ask Charlotte where the lullaby is from and come to find out it is a traditional welsh lullaby that Will is familiar with becase his family is welsh and I honsetly think it is really beautiful. Soon enough I realize that i'm pretty tired also and I eventually fall asleep fading into darkness.
