Dr. David Lee looked down at his pager. He was to go to the ER immediately. He ran as fast as he could. Not much information had been provided so he didn't know what he was going to be dealing with when he got there. He went into station three to find another doctor stitching the forehead cut on a young boy; the boy was five years old, as was his twin sister. The twin sister that was trying to get his attention.
"Daddy, Dylan cut himself by running through the house!" she shouted.
"Colleen Mackenzie Lee! We don't tattle on our siblings," said the other doctor, "But he was running through the house when he wasn't supposed to be."
"Dylan Michael Lee, is this true?" David asked.
"Maybe," he said softly. David raised his eyebrows, "Yes Daddy."
David looked into the eyes of the other doctor. Her brown hair falling just past her shoulders and her brown eyes firm yet gentle as she looked at the two lives she had brought into the world five years ago. She then looked up at him and smiled and David smiled back at her, the love of his life since 2010. The one and only Miranda Lee nee Foster.
"They're a handful these days aren't they?" he chuckled.
"Yeah, I seriously don't know if we can handle more," she chuckled lightly. She knew David wanted more kids but she didn't know if she was ready for it just yet.
"Daddy, are you going to put Dylan in time out now?" asked Colleen.
David sat down in front of Dylan and took a quick glance at the wound which his wife had closed perfectly as per usual, "Buddy, what have Mommy and I told you about running through the house?"
"That I could get a boo boo if I do," said Dylan.
"Right. And this boo boo on your forehead is why you shouldn't run. So when Mommy and Daddy tell you not to do something, you listen okay?"
"Okay Daddy," he said.
"Same with you Colleen," said Miranda.
"Okay Mommy," she nodded.
"Dr. Lee," said Ryan Abbott walking into the ER station.
"What?" asked Miranda and David simultaneously looking his way.
"Um that Dr. Lee," said Ryan pointing to David, "It's been four years since you guys got married. You'd think I'd know not to do that by now."
Miranda and David both unsuccessfully contained their laughter on behalf of Ryan's expense. Colleen and Dylan smiled too.
"I have an offer on a heart for a patient," said Ryan, "Dr. Yablonski said he'd take it so we need to get to Baltimore now."
"Okay," said David as Ryan walked away. David turned to his two children and said, "Daddy has to go now. Behave for Mommy deal?"
"Deal!" they both nodded.
"I should be home before you're in bed. I love you," he said kissing Miranda.
"I love you too," she said kissing him back before gathering their kids and both heading off to finish their days.
