I really should be working on homework (or even my Jamber multi-chapter) but here's a quick Willome One-shot! It's sort of what I feel should've happened with the email.
Jerome breathed a sigh of relief as he deleted the hazardous email. At that moment, Mara and Willow both walked into the room. Jerome wanted to stand there and lie glibly, but he knew the truth would have to come out eventually. And, in the mean time, he was only digging his hole deeper.
So he took a deep breath, and Jerome Clarke did something he rarely did: He told the truth. His stomach turned squeamish as he saw the hurt looks appearing on the girls faces. Jerome truly cared about both Willow and Mara, he hadn't wanted to hurt either of them. He'd just been unsure of how to handle his feeling for both girls, and didn't want to utterly reject all possibilities in either area. Now, he knew that it wasn't the right way to go about this, and everyone was going to end up angry and lied to.
Mara looked shocked. Standing there, unmoving, she seemed fragile and vulnerable. Jerome wished he could take back everything, and he stepped towards her. She backed away, unwanted tears filling her eyes. "Why would do this to me?" She sobbed, apparently angry with herself.
"Mara..."
"I thought... For some crazy reason, that you loved me!" Mara ran out of the lounge, heartbroken and resentful.
Jerome swallowed, if that was how well calm Mara handled the news, what was emotional Willow going to do? He turned towards the usually bright, but now deflated red-head. "Listen. I didn't want to hurt either of you, Willow, you have to believe me."
She looked up at him, green eyes wide and only slightly wet. "Why'd you do it?"
Jerome sighed. "I really, really like both of you. I just... didn't know what to do. I'm sorry," He gave a feeble apology. At least she gave him a chance to give an explanation, even if he didn't have a good one.
She looked him straight in the eye and nodded slowly, accepting the sincere desperation in them. Then, she whispered barely audibly, "I forgive you."
With that, she walked out the same door that Mara had rushed out of moments earlier. Jerome watched her uncertainly, utterly astonished by her reaction. She... forgave him? After everything he'd done? Jerome vaguely remembered her matter of fact response to their discussion on mistakes during detention.
Maybe he had made a mistake. But, maybe, like Willow had said mistakes are part of who we are. The only thing to do was to move past them, to a new future. And maybe, just maybe, that future included someone else. Someone who would accept his mistakes, pushing him to never make them again.
Hope you liked it! R&R!
