Dear Bethany
We didn't have time to say our goodbyes. Part of me wonders if I could have done something different, something to protect you. But then I remember your face when the templars took you away, how calm you were. Maybe it's for the best. You always had doubts about living as an apostate; this way you won't have to run away anymore. At least that's what I'm trying to believe so I don't blame myself. I pray every day that you'll find peace in your new home. And if things go bad for you, I'll tear down the Gallows, stone by stone if I must, to free you.
It's a small consolation, but at least the expedition went well. Varric is currently seeking best buyers, but even if he settles for the cheapest price, the investment will pay off. Trust me, however, when I say that you didn't want to go with us, and not only for our mother's peace of heart. Truly, it was awful, with lots of darkspawns, ancient demons and a week with almost no food - courtesy of Bartrand's treachery. Can you believe it? He left us in an abandoned thaig for some idol made of lyrium! It's a miracle we found a way out, but we almost got killed by... something. Varric said it was a stone wraith, but he also said they're just a legend. I honestly don't know, I'm just happy I won't ever have to fight it again.
I miss you sis. Mother does too, but I probably don't have to tell you that. Write back soon, I'd like to know if I have to prepare a jailbreak.
Love
Sheila
