Ten Akuroku Drabbles

By: Evantis

For Nut a.k.a lollipop-lalala (because I'm not a big fan of Akuroku, but she is). I can't believe I'm giving a shot at Akuroku again, but whatever. This is going to be a series of ten drabbles mostly from Axel's point of view (as decided for now) somewhat loosely linked together. It's not all one story, really.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it! Please review, too:)

Axel decides that there were a few turning points in his life.

The first one being when he first met Roxas. The boy had appeared out of nowhere (unsurprisingly, for that was how Organization XIII picked up its members – when they appeared out of nowhere) and fallen right onto the dinner table from the ceiling. Xemnas's eyebrow had twitched, Demyx had shouted a colourful swear word, Zexion had given Roxas 'the look', Marluxia and Vexen seemed annoyed, and Laxaeus didn't even blink.

The first thing that struck Axel was the fact that the pot roast had become inedible.

And so Roxas stood, and Xemnas asked him quite plainly, "Will you join Organization XIII?"

Vice versa.

Naturally, the task of looking after Roxas and getting him settled in his new home fell upon Axel's shoulders. It was always his duty (he still remembers lugging Demyx out of the bathtub when he arrived) and so it was.

"I'm Axel," he told the newcomer. "Got it memorized?"

Roxas looked up at him – the height difference was startling, really. But Axel was still intimidated by the brilliance and frostiness of those blue orbs, the way Roxas didn't back down, how his body was so rigid. And Axel knew, that this boy wasn't a normal kid. His blonde hair was spiky beyond reality, his skin distinctly reminding the redhead of porcelain, and his blue eyes so striking and piercing.

"Roxas," the kid finally said.

Axel didn't know what to do. Roxas was different from all the newbies before him. Demyx had screamed and said he wanted out, Zexion had fallen asleep the moment he arrived, Laxaeus had followed him like the brainless moron he was, and Vexen had locked himself in the laboratory. But Roxas was different.

"Well, uh…nice to meet you," Axel finally answered, his voice uneasy. He held out his hand, furrowing his brow. This was what you did, didn't you? When you met new people.

Roxas gave him a prompt look of disbelief, but shook hands with Axel anyway.

In that simple moment, in that unsophisticated, basic gesture, Axel felt something. He didn't know what it was yet, or why it was affecting him so badly. At that moment, he would never have guessed that such a thin, fragile relationship would escalate into that of friendship, into something so much more passionate and loving. He would have never even given a faintest thought that their bond forged over a long stretch of time would finally be broken by harsh fate. But he still liked to believe, that the first time he met Number Thirteen Roxas, it was the first turning point of his life.
