Author's Note: I am dedicating this story to my favorite Beryl role player and her pure heart… I will miss her. Always.

The dark energy swirled through the valley as they looked out at the desolation before them. Matallia had destroyed everything in her path. One fiery beauty looked upon the true servant of this ravaging energy. Of course, it was her fault this thing had gotten into the solar system to begin with.

Beryl turned to her, the magenta in her eyes hollow, "What will be left for us to rule when the beast was finished?"

"Are you having second thoughts," the crimson princess blinked in disbelief. The smell of scorched earth and bodies wafted through the air.

Her Magenta eyes narrow, "Of course not! All I want is HIM." Beryl wrung her hands together.

The firestorm of a princess nodded, but a lump formed in her throat as she thought about why she had done this. Finally, she looked at Beryl and grabbed her necklace, the connection that she shared with the darkness.

It was the only way to spare one last soul from the pain she had brought to this place. As the darkness crackled and streamed from Beryl into her vessel, Beryl screamed so shrilly that it made the princess taking over the role of servant to darkness' eyes bleed. She called forth her platinum crystal and watched as its glow changed from gold to an eerie black of night.

Once it was finished the form of Beryl fell to the ground, weeping and gasping, "Why?"

"I deserve this fate… I will pay for the sins of my people. You did nothing but suffer from a broken heart."

Even though she knew Beryl would still die… She would die with a pure heart and perhaps that would be the only measure of atonement that the Fire who would scorch the solar system with Black Death would receive from Selene… Or Apollo….

Her last tear was she as she felt Beryl's light go out. Just before she let the blackness consume her entirely she whispered, "Rest in Peace my friend… I will join you soon."
