A/N: First one-shot so don't know how great this will be. Criticism appreciated but please don't tell me 'oh this sux' and not give me a reason. I would like to get better but I really can't if you don't tell me what's wrong.

Disclaimer: I own a brand new ZuneHD(insert smiley face here: ) that I got for Christmas, but I don't own the Twilight Saga, Stephenie Meyer earned that right. Darn… also, I don't own the note; I just thought it sounded really sweet

Why must I be like this, why must I hunt and leave my love, my Bella? Of course life is never truly fair. I ran towards her house so that I could say goodbye before I had to leave for the weekend. Her light was still on, but I could hear Charlie's thoughts from down the hall.

Billy's none too happy; he was fine two weeks ago. I wonder if it has to do with the Cullen's return? Of course, Jacob could be rubbing off on him with his prejudice against Edward…

I tuned out of his thoughts then and waited the short while until he fell asleep. Then I jumped up to Bella's opened window and saw my beautiful angel reading on her bed. When she heard me enter, she put down the book and motioned for me to come sit down with her. I did so and noticed that she was once again reading Wuthering Heights; it's worn binding falling apart.

Bella snuggled into my chest, attempting to breathe in my scent discreetly. I wrapped my arms around her and did the same, controlling my thirst.

"Bella," I murmured into her hair,

"Yes, Edward?"

"Tomorrow morning Emmett is forcing me to go on an all-guys hunting trip for the rest of the weekend. Do you think you'll be all right? Because if you're not I can get Alice to come over." I rushed through at a pace she could barely hear.

"Yeah, I'll be fine Edward. I might call Alice over anyways though." Her voice betrayed her words, filled with longing and pain. My heart broke all over again, not being able to make her feel better.

"Are you sure? I mean I ca-"

"No," Bella cut me off, fingering the shadows under my eyes. "You need to hunt. I don't want you to be uncomfortable around me because you are thirsty." I nodded and lightly pressed my lips to hers in a sweet kiss.

"Go to sleep, Love." She nodded and snuggled in tightly. Soon enough, her breathing had slowed and evened out. We stayed like this all night, only letting Bella's sleep talking disrupt the silence.

Eventually, Emmett showed up outside Bella's window and signaled it was time to go. I nodded at him and unwrapped my arms from Bella's soft frame. I kissed her forehead and walked towards the window. On the way, I saw a notebook and pen sitting on her desk and smiled minutely, grabbing them and writing out a note to my love.

* * *

I yawned and stretched, expecting my arm to hit a cold, hard figure. When it didn't, I started to think that Volterra was all a dream and that Edward had never truly come back. I sat up and looked around the room, noticing for the first time that my window was cracked open, a sure sign that Edward had been here. I lay down once again, hitting my head against a piece of paper. I pulled it out and saw that it had been folded several times.

Opening it up, I saw a note written to me in Edward's neat, lilting handwriting.

My beautiful Bella,

If love is great, and there are no greater things, then what I feel for you must be the greatest.

The passion, the pain, the feeling for you, from you. You put me through so much. So much pain, all the hurt. But so little do you know. The passion I have for you seems like its never going to go away. The deep feelings I have for you, will they ever go way? We've got to be meant for each other. There is too much for us not to be. We've got to be soul mates. We've got to be something special. Something. I'm so sad, so hurt. I've accepted what has happened, but I still can't let go. My love for you is forever.

I love you,

Edward
