Christmas. He didn't know what the HELL it was but if Terezi wanted to do it, he would do it. By all means with her being with that ass anytime he could get with her without having to hear his dying cat noises, or rapping, or whatever you call it was perfectly fine with him. Better than fine actually, it was pure bliss. Even Kanaya was getting into the festive spirit. She pretty much made everyone Christmasy-wintery shit. That would be the reason for him wearing the god-awful sweater he was now. This thing was on his head, it was red and white and it had like a ball of fuzz on the end and he didn't understand but he felt his horns being in an enclosed space and he did NOT like it. Now that he mentioned it, that sweater was itchy as hell. It had a "Christmas tree" on it. It just looked like stacked triangles with a star on top. What was worse was that it lit up. What was even worse, it was RED. He cursed Christmas colors forever. He looked around the large room. There were scattered "mistletoe" all around the room; apparently you were supposed to kiss someone when you were both under it. All of it was Eridan's doing, he was pretty much the only one who was going to be completely and utterly alone on Christmas eve or whatever shit that meant. Karkat shrugged, jumbling around in his hands a pretty wrapped box. Rose had wrapped it for him. Stupid humans needing special paper for presents. An hour passed and Terezi and Dave had yet to show up to the party. He adjusted the sweater a bit. Growing impatient he started to walk around, carefully avoiding mistletoe and kisses from probably slimed up or drunk partygoers. His eyes shifted around the room quickly.

His eyes finally picked up something red, flamboyantly red. He saw Terezi arm in arm with Dave. He waited for the right moment for what seemed like forever. Finally the moment arrived she wasn't by anybody and completely alone in a corner. Dave was with Rose drunkenly screeching Christmas carols and Terezi was alone in a corner happily sipping some cocoa in her hands. Karkat took a deep breath and walked to her. Her eyes widened in surprised. He didn't know what to say so he took out the present behind his back and held it up with his hand quickly. In the process he nearly dropped it, he juggled it from hand to hand until he caught it in both his hands.

"Uh, uh here!" he said quickly shoving the present into her hands. She smiled. Her hands gingerly unwrapped the present, opening the top to find a huge pile of red chalk. He flushed.

"What?" That was all she could say.

"You said red was your favorite color right? You like drawing and chalk and stuff so I got you a bunch of it so you wouldn't run out." She looked at him quizzically.

"Do they even sell or make red chalk by itself?"

He looked anywhere but her, "uh… No. Just enjoy it okay?"

Terezi could smell the chalk on his hands. He had spent all day sorting chalk. She was so surprised. Her nose burned. Karkat looked up and mistletoe seemed to sparkle above them. "This is what you're supposed to do right?" He said this as he pulled her into a kiss. That kiss said everything he couldn't. How he wanted to be with her, how sorry he was for putting her through so much, how much he hated that dickshit Strider, but mostly how much he loved her. But he couldn't have her, so he had to put it all into that kiss. Hopefully she understood. Her lips didn't move, they didn't mold to his with the flame that had passed. He backed off. He felt so out of line kissing another guy's girl. He backed off suddenly. Mumbled an apology and left. Leaving Terezi alone in that corner. The only thing she could say, the only words that passed her lips were, "He sorted it all out. For me."
