Marco was feeling broken up inside. His feelings felt like a hurricane of heartbreak.
He loved Star- so, so, much. However, his parents weren't comfortable with him dating an exchange student who lived in their home.
Therefore, he was forced to stay simply her best friend. Sighing, Marco rolled over in his bed. "Hey, Marco!" Star bounded in, hair flying. "Hey, Star." said Marco halfheartedly. Star instantly saw that something was wrong. "What's up, Wild Man?" She asked teasingly, but Marco saw genuine concern in her eyes. "It's nothing." Marco quickly answered. Star rolled her eyes. "C'mon, Marco! You and I both know that something is wrong." Marco sighed again. "I- have you ever wanted something so badly that you would die just to have it for one minute?" Star looked at the ground. "Well..." She looked embarrassed. "I...um...I feel that way about you- I mean, your nachos!" A wry smile crept onto Marco's face. "Are my nachos really that good?" "Uhhh...Yes! Marco, they are best food in the universe!" Marco grinned. "Thanks." There was an awkward silence. Star shuffled her feet. Marco stared at the floor. Suddenly, Star tackled him onto his bed, weeping. Marco instinctively wrapped his arms around her. "Whoa! Star! What's wrong?" "I-I-I love you, Marco! But my parents don't want me to date after how badly things ended with Tom." Star buried her face in Marco's chest and sobbed. Marco stroked her back soothingly. "Star, I feel the same way. My parents don't want me to date you, either." Star looked up at him, her crystal blue eyes shimmering with tears. "Really?" Marco leaned forward slowly and kissed her softly on the lips. It lasted nearly a full minute. Reluctantly, they pulled away, aching for more, even though they knew that they shouldn't. "Star, I swear, one day we will date without having to keep it secret. But for now, we have to just be best friends. Star gave him a hug. "That's good enough for me."
