Okay, my first attempt at poetry. I would have written this in story form, but I couldn't think of a way to make it fit.

Disclaimer: I don't own Spirited Away.

Soft laughter is heard
Over rising steam and gushing water
As the waters grow hot
And the spirits bathe

Fresh food is brought
Conversation sought
As the Yuna serve with shallow smiles
And the men steal with empty promises

Far below, the old man works
To keep the water hot and fresh
As the susuwatari carry coals
And the fire rises to a roar

The white dragon flies from place to place
Stern of eye and sad of face
Young but ancient, more a slave than anyone
As he looks for freedom, and finds none

The house is a trap, a gilded cage
Where no one knows their own name
The spirits come to pay their way
But they know not how to flee

No one is free
The house is their prison, the work their sentence
For contracts once struck can not be undone
And how can they leave when they do not know their name?

Beyond is the sea, shallow and smooth
A place all yearn for, but never go
For the train never stays, and they do not have
The means or the will to escape their gilded cage

As night falls, the black crow flies
Fearsome of voice and vast in size
Making sure that no one is free
As she rules her house with an iron claw
