The room lay silent. The sun shined through the window, reflecting from the mirror to the red silkened bed covers. Curled up within was a much loved ruler who was coming to his final hours as a king of a much loved nation. Mage healers were brought in from far and wide to help the king back to health. However, as the days went by the king was slipping away. It was only hours now before the end.
The weakened king finally grasped the strength to open his eyes, weak in color while pale in blood. Voices were heard but not many of them familiar from first glance as Alistair scanned the room. His eyes came to a stand still as he finally found a face well recognized among the people but much closer to his own heart. After defeating the Darkspawn along with the Archdemon, the warden who in the kings first matter of appointment granted the woman who saved this fair kingdom and it's surrounding neighbors the deserved title Hero of Ferelden to her name. However, in the months that were to pass, the king and warden were soon celebrating their own wedding as they both were madly in love even before the blight came to an end.
"Lilly…" the frail king called as his wife turned at the sound of her name being called from his lips. "Alistair, my love save your strength." she answered as she came to her husbands bedside. News of his current state passed through the kingdom before the word soon reached the queen who was away on a royal visit to the Grey's new home given by the king himself.
Alistair smiled at his wife as he finally got to see her once again. The last time they spoke was of when Lilly was departing to see her brother Fergus who had decided to go back and rebuild his and Lilly's home back in Highever. Their last words however were not so lovingly.
"You always were the protective type." He muttered as Alistair felt her warm hand gently grace his cheek. "When I was off the job that is…" This caused a small chuckle from Lilly as she shook her head, smiling softly. To hear her laugh once again made Alistair feel whole. As he saw his wife away, a piece of his life suddenly felt taken away. Without her by his side he was nothing. He needed his love by his side as his eyes began to shut tight from the pain coursing through his body.
Lilly looked back to the mages, pleading them to help him but she knew herself there was nothing much they could do besides give the king little more time. To see him suffer like this was heartbreaking as the queen felt a tear fall down her cheek.
"Don't cry… my love." Came the muttered response of her husband to whom reached up with his remaining strength to gently wipe the tear away. "As long as your here by my side, nothing can be more painful for I have you here to protect me, remember?" he smiled as best he could before he found lips came into contact with Lilly's, feeling more tears stream down her face.
The kiss was lengthened as much as was possible before Lilly pulled back, still holding her lovers hands while their foreheads connected.
"Be strong… my love." his lips muttered before his hands went limp, his eyes closed, his lips ever so close to Lilly's as she knew that her husband, king and friend was gone.
"Please don't leave me…" she whispered even though she knew he was gone. If there was just a little sliver of hope that he would awaken then Lilly would hold onto that chance. She knew… she knew he was sleeping without any pain anymore. He was resting peacefully at the makers side.
Hey guys this is the written assignment I had to create. (You know who you are :D) I hope you all like it and please do not hesitate to let me know what you think ^_^ Thanks again!
