Snape hurried along the outskirts of the small town. Concealed in the mist of the muggle suburbs, the town seamed nothing but ordinary. It was of course, as with most things, the situation was entirely the opposite. Godric's Hollow was a strange place, rumours of strange occurrences in the area were whispered about the surrounding villages. Of course more than often, these rumours were not far from the truth. You see, Godric's Hollow was home to a population of wizards.

Snape knew he could be easily reconsigned in such a place, and he would do best to avoid that. People didn't understand, they rarely did. Nobody trusted Snape, they all feared he was acquainted with You-Know-Who. That of course was true, but his loyalties lied with a man named Dumbledore, Albus Dumbledore. It was better that people didn't understand, Snape thought. No one knew that he had strayed from the Dark Lord, and it needed to stay that way. Which in a nutshell, was why he couldn't be spotted, it would raise questions, questions that Snape needn't answer. So he stayed in the shadows, out of view... at least he thought he was. A high pitched voice broke the silence of the night.

"Severus, how truly kind it was for you to lead me here, this will make the job much quicker"
"My Lord, it was not my intent to lead you here tonight, they are just rumours. The boy-"
"The boy is a risk, to my safety Severus, whether the rumours are true or not I must kill him now, while they least expect it."
"My Lord, but how do you expect to reach the boy, we have confirmed that the Fidelius Charm is being used on the house"
"Fear not Severus, I have dealt with the issue"
" But My Lord, the boys parents. They are skilled wizards. Expecting an attack or not, surely they will put up some resistance. My Lord why risk it when you are not even sure that he is the boy"
"I am sure Severus, the boy must die, and his parents with them if necessary."

Snape awoke startled, cold in his own sweat. It was only a dream. Only it wasn't. Lily was dead. And though he had not lead Voldemort directly to Godric's Hollow that fateful night, the fact remained that she was dead. And it was his fault.
