Chapter 1
Percy's POV
I swear, the moment I pulled the sword out, the world started to move in slow motion. Just like the movies. I couldn't breathe. I knew that in a few seconds Death would be paying a visit, and in this case it took 18 seconds.
18 seconds. 18 years. What a coincidence.
This was the end
"We all thought that once we had defeated Gaea, we were done. You know, done with the wars, the deaths, the deceit, the revenge, the... everything. We thought we could live in peace. Be happy." He paused for a second before he let out a defeated sigh and continued "But...after four years of a normal life...we got a...a prophecy."
A gasp flew out of my mouth. My shocked eyes rose to meet his traumatized ones.
"How...how...did...we...I...not...know about...it" I barely whispered out.
"Because the Gods were sure that it was a small job. At first we thought so too. I mean, after Gaea, could there be anything or anyone that's worse? But the Gods were wrong. Aren't they always?! I don't know why I even listened them after you know...everything!" He looked at me with his bloodshot eyes " Things got bad. Really bad. It's a huge mess. I need your help. I really need it. Please help me fix this. Thalia please." He looked like he was on the brink of breaking down and sobbing till he was dehydrated. He was trembling in fear. He looked broken.
I took his calloused and scar filled hands in mine and said "I'll do my best Jason. I'll do my best."
