A/N: Thank you whoever wrote a vegetated development on for Lily's present inspiration. And my sister did the grammatical stuff.
Chapter 1:
Christmas Day 6th year:
Lily came storming down the girls' dormitory stairs into the Common Room. Seeing the hate of her life, James Potter, sitting with his friends, she stormed over and began to tell him off.
"What is this, Potter?!"
"Um, what does it look like?"
"It looks like knickers with golden snitches flying on them!!!"
"Well, there you go, then. You didn't need me to tell you. You already knew."
"Of course I knew what they are, Potter!! But I know you sent them to me and I want to know why!!"
"Obviously cuz I'm in love with you," James said as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"He really is," stated Sirius.
"Definitely," said Peter.
"Never stops talking about you," said Remus.
"Really. And what does he say?" asked Lily, not sure if she wanted to know the answer and still seriously pissed off.
"He says you're as amazing as Dumbledore's discovery of the 12 uses of dragon's blood." Everyone stared at him. "Alright, I made up the part about the dragon's blood, but he still thinks you're amazing. I was just trying to make him sound smart."
"Thanks a lot, Moony," said James, highly affronted. "Why are you my best friend, again?"
"Um, because I let you copy my History of Magic notes?"
"Oh yeah . . . . ." James grinned and slapped Remus on the back. "You're a great guy, Moony."
James glanced up to see Lily still standing behind his chair with smoke practically billowing out of her ears and his present to her still in her hand.
"Oh yeah. We were talking about your Christmas present. Do you like it?"
"Do I - does it look - why would you - ugghh!!" Lily turned and strode back into her dorm.
"Well, that went well, Prongs," Sirius grinned.
"Shove off, Padfoot," grumbled James. "Why does she have to hate me so much? She's so pretty when she's angry though . . . She'll be mine soon!"
Remus glanced up from the book he was reading. "Have you ever thought that that might be the reason she hates you?"
"What might be the reason she hates me?" James asked, desperately trying not to sound desperate.
"Maybe she wants the title of being the only girl who can resist 'the famous Potter charm,'" Remus said sarcastically.
"So, what can I do to make her fall for me?" James asked, trying to sound like he didn't actually care desperately.
"Try growing up a little, mate," Sirius sniggered.
