Title: Fantasies Come True

Author: Tartan Lioness

Summary: ADMM. Do fantasies come true? Some do, some don't.

A/N: I got the idea for this from an Avenue Q song called "Fantasies Come True". All credits to the makers of Ave. Q and of course to JK Rowling, as I don't own Albus and Minerva... Though they would make a wonderful birthday gift..

Minerva walked tentatively into the room that Albus used as a study. It was the old Black library at Grimmauld Place and the walls were covered in shelves with books and artefacts on them. At the desk burned a small lamp, which Albus had obviously used to read by but now he was bent over the desk, head on the book, his hair spread out as a mass of silvery white silk.

"Albus? Are you awake?" Minerva whispered softly.

"Is that a unicorn?" he mumbled. For a moment Minerva was left confused. "No, that's okay; I'll wear the orange coat… who painted my phoenix purple?"

Minerva shook her head as she realized that he was talking in his sleep. She chuckled to herself.

"Madam Pomfrey stole my earmuffs. She put them on the mandrakes."

"Maybe I should just shake him awake," she mused out loud.

"I love you, Tabby," Albus mumbled. Minerva's head shot up.

"What did you say?"

"I love it when you laugh and when you frown. I love you."

"Albus? Are… are you awake?" she asked uncertainly, her voice quivering.

"You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, even if you don't know it yourself."

"Albus… this can't be true. You… you would have said something. All those nights alone… did you really feel as alone as I? Impossible."

"Nothing's impossible, Min," he mumbled as an unconscious answer to her comment.

"You mean to tell me that all those years I missed the signs? Couldn't read between the lines? I never thought I'd hear you say what you just said. It can't be true."

Albus snored lightly and Minerva smiled at the sound, sitting down in a chair by the fire. She was going to be right there, if he needed her. To care for him if he wanted it, to prove that fantasies do come true.

"I'll make our fantasies come true," she whispered with a small smile. "Who'd have thought that what's in my heart was in your heart too? Fantasies come true."

"Minerva, you're talking in your sleep," Albus said. Minerva opened her eyes slowly.

"I… I thought you were talking in your sleep," she said, bewildered. It was still night, as far as she could tell from the bit of sky she could see through the window. Why had he woken her up?

"No, dear, I don't sleep in the library. I only just came in here to check something I thought of while in my room."

"Oh..." she whispered, tears burning behind her eyes.

"I don't think I've ever heard you talk in your sleep before, Minerva. Sounded like a nice dream," he smiled.

"Yes. Yes, it was a nice dream," she said, her voice harder than she had meant for it to be. "However, I shall go to my room now and sleep."

"Goodnight, Minerva," he said as she left the room. Minerva stopped right outside the door, letting not a single tear fall.

"Goodnight, Albus," she whispered heart wrenchingly.
