She was lonely. Simply beyond lonely. Simply beyond beautiful, yet simply just lonely. She desperately wished for a single soul around to comfort her. Not even her family appreciated her.
Audrey Horne was quite easily the most beautiful young woman in Twin Peaks, yet she was rather sad and undermined. Some might've even said that little Miss Horne was even more beautiful than the famous, blonde and equally pretty, Laura Palmer.
Standing in the flushed and crowded hallway of Twin Peaks High, Audrey lightly tapped her polished fingers on the yellow lockers, humming to herself, tediously.
Class wasn't due to start until fifteen minutes, yet the halls were eager and bright with voices of students. Audrey had English Literature with Miss Martell, Pete Martell's sister who unwittingly wreaked havoc amongst the young boys of the ungodly high school.
There was a time when Audrey could remember that she was the most popular girl at that school. A time when Laura Palmer was considered to be ugly, a time before Laura hit puberty, a time when Audrey could get any guy she wanted.
She still could, but it wasn't the same.
She just longed for someone to love her, someone to take her away to Paris, someone who would marry her for her sheer beauty, not her wealth.
Throughout the course of Audrey's daydreaming, the bell had rung and Audrey was casually walking down the hall, her red kitten heels clicking with each step. Around her, everyone else ran to their classes in a messy fashion, while Audrey simply looked classy.
While looking classy, Audrey didn't seem to notice the person who had managed to bump into her and knock her straight to the floor in a rapid disarray.
She groaned mentally, as she cursed herself for not looking where she was going, and to stop mind wandering down the halls at school.
"Audrey, I'm sorry, I didn't see you there.." A soft voice spoke out, offering out his large hand for Audrey to claim.
Audrey's sparkling eyes looked up to find it was James Hurley, the school's indecent biker boy. His raven coloured hair made his glittery silver eyes darken with each second.
"No, that's okay.." Audrey replied, taking the boy's hand and propping herself up. The warmth his hand provided sent cold chills down Audrey's spine. The halls had now been cleared empty, and they were both late.
"I'm glad," James chuckled, not letting go of the young woman's hand so easily, "Wouldn't wanna get on your bad side."
Audrey flashed her cute, vulnerable signature smile. The smile that made boys' hearts melt, the smile that could probably hide a tonne of secrets, the smile barely anyone saw.
"Oh yeah? Why's that?" Audrey challenged, batting her black eyelashes. She wasn't letting go of the biker's hand so easily either. She liked the heat that was radiating off of him, it warmed her blooded soul.
"'Cause...um, you know...you can be a pretty dangerous woman, when you wanna be." James chuckled again, slightly massaging the hand he held onto, hoping Audrey wouldn't notice.
Oh, but she did notice.
"And you can be a pretty dangerous boy when you want to be, Mr. Hurley..." She spoke, taking a step forward towards him. He didn't notice, he was too busy staring at her heart-stopping facial features.
Audrey found herself whispering against the softness of his ear. James stomach exploded with butterflies and shyness, and his breath got caught in his throat. Her breath was hot against his ear.
"We all have secrets around here, my special biker..." She whispered, kissing his palm, before turning away from the confused boy, and walking off into a distance.
She wouldn't be lonely anymore.
