It's said that Xyrians are physically weak due to their psychic abilities.
I'm the exception to the rule.
My name is Akima, and I'm the head of Zeta Squadron, the most elite Time Force Police squadron on Earth.
I was lying on my bed at Time Police headquarters trying to meditate when the call came in.
::Zeta Squadron, please report to the briefing room,:: came the voice of the chief. I was on my feet and out the door, pulling my forest green hair into a ponytail as I ran. I met up with my second in command Jay and communications experts Tony and Rhina on the way there. "What do you think this is about?" I asked them.
"No clue," Rhina answered as we walked into the briefing room and sat down. We were the last four there as the other five members of the squadron, LeVar, Anna, Sarah, Nika, and Jimmy were already seated. I looked to the chief and asked, "What's up?"
"We're sending you after the rogue officers that took a timeship and went after Ransik," the chief answered. i nodded. I'd heard about that but I didn't know who the four officers were. "Who are they?" I asked.
"You should know one of them, Akima," the chief answered. "He's your brother."
"WHAT?!" I said. "Trip's one of them? Oh when I get my hands on him..."
"The other three," the chief interrupted, flashing their pictures on the monitor in the front of the room, "are Jen Scott, Katie Walker, and Lucas Robinson."
*Oh boy,* I thought. *If the love of my life and my kid brother are involved, I can see why they wanted Zeta Squadron to do it...* Aloud I said, "You can count on us sir." I looked to the rest of the squadron and said, "Right?"
"You got it," Nika and Jimmy said in unison. I couldn't help but giggle. You'd think those two were twins in a past life or something the way they always finished each other's sentences.
"All right," the chief said. "Dismissed." The nine of us stodd up and headed out to the hangar where our timeship was waiting.
After boarding the timeship and strapping ourselves in, Sarah, our navigator, said, "Time coordinates locked in, Akima."
I nodded and said, "Ready guys?"
After I got an affirmative from everyone else, I said to Sarah, "Hit it!"
Sarah pressed the button and the ship trembled as it headed into the time stream. After a few minutes, it stopped shaking and we landed gently..somewhere.
"Come on," I said, unstrapping myself and heading for the hatch. The others followed and when we stepped out of the hatch...
...It was like stepping into a war zone.
