Watching as the Elves pass by,

Heading to the Western shore.

Walking to the harboured boats,

Not to return for evermore.

.

I see it in their faces –

They are glad to go away,

So joyful as they know that

They shall cross the sea this day.

.

My people slowly board the ships

To be sailed away from home.

Yet I stay dwelling in my forests,

The last elf – I alone.

.

I cannot comprehend this;

How could they be so glad

To leave the land of their birth

And all they ever had?

.

I shall not go, I never will;

I'll stay here on this ground.

The White Shores will not take my heart,

To the sea I am not bound.

.

The harbour and the spreading seas

Glint in the setting sun,

But I will stay upon the Earth,

Here where my days began.

.

But I forgot to bid farewell –

I must go to say goodbye.

To part from every elf I know

Ere grey clouds streak the sky.

.

The harbour comes into my view

And I now see the sea.

But, alas! Alas! The ships have gone;

No last goodbye to me.

.

They left without a single wave

Nor one spoken word.

No chance to see them one last time,

To see them part this world.

.

I cry out loud my heart's distress,

My pain akin to none.

I could not accept it, but I know

That I'm the only one.

.

A cruel blow, a tragic fate –

That which I have to bear;

Cut from those most dear to me,

And left to my despair.
