When the Smoke Clears

Prologue

It took a long time, but eventually, everyone got used to it. Got used to the fact that there were genetically supped up humans living in the world. They still didn't like it of course, but did anyone really expect them too? The point is we were free, for the most part. We still had to deal with the odd person trying to get rid of us, not like they were any threat. But it got old, knowing you were the most hated species living, right up there with flies and slugs. The world wasn't ready for us, and they never would be. But we didn't have to live in isolation. Of course everything was harder for the ones that were. Different, the ones like Joshua, the ones people were scared of. No one even tried to let those ones live there lives, but, luckily, they were forced to, to a certain extent.

10 years ago, they let us out of Terminal City, they had passed a law letting us live our lives like anyone else. That doesn't mean when we were leaving we didn't have rotten vegetables getting thrown at us.

We got out, and we scattered. Everyone agreed it would be best if we didn't all stay in the same place, the people around us definetly wouldn't like it that way. Since that day, I have spoken to anyone who was with me in that siege. Not Joshua, not Alec, not even Logan. The one person I did stay with, Original Cindy. The two of us moved to Canada not long after we left Terminal City. Not far from Seattle actually, Vancouver Island.

Ever since the day I left I've wondered, wondered what it would have been like it I stayed with Logan. During the siege, we got closer. Still not together of course, but closer. The virus was still around keeping us from being a couple again. Part of me always missed it. I love him, and I never got to tell him how I felt. Things have changed for me since then. I'm a different person. A normal person. Of course, something I've always worried about. White. Ever since Terminal City we hadn't heard from him. It makes me think something bigs going to happen. Something only he knows about.
