Ok so I thought I share something with my fellow fanfictioners.
I recently received this book on writing exercises to make a persons writing skills better and one of the exercises was really fun and interesting.
Here is how it goes I will give you a sentence from a Tamora Pierce novel, and then you have to take the words and write new sentences with each word at the start of it. As this is Tamora pierce fanfic I think the sentences have to relate to the story somewhat so here it is sort of a game as such, send me your story and ill add it to the chapters. Ill start:
The Sentence: His warriors take your friends to boat and guard it until they leave.
His body was already covered in scars, the worse one ran the length of his body and still hadn't lost its reddish colour. Warriors learn to deal with this type of deformity, it becomes part of their life, but Numair was not a warrior he was a mage, his power should prevent scars. Take away his magic and he was no warrior, swords and hand combat where never strong points of his, and he avoided it whenever possible.
Your life passes before your eyes when you receive a cut like the one that had scarred his back. Friends, family, love. To taunt you in what could be your last moments, letting you know what you leave behind if you give up.
Boat trips always made Numair think of such thing, it was a time of relative peace when unwanted thoughts seep into the mind. And they made him think of Daine, the way no teacher should think of their student, but the thoughts came to him unasked all the same.
"Guard yourself from them, they will end in pain." It is what his sensible mind told him when he thought such things, Daine could never feel what he did, and to speak up and face rejection would be more painful than any scar. Until the day, she marries another, and then my heart will be ripped from my chest, that is a pain I doubt I can bare. They will be happy with children, and I an old fool will be heart broken with the questions of what if always on my mind. Leave, that is what I will do when the time comes, leave Tortall and Daine to her happiness and suffer the pain alone.
Ok so get the drift of it, have a go its quite fun. Oh and that sentence comes from Emperor Mage.
