I published this story a while ago, but after looking back at it I realized how much needed to be fixed, and so I fixed it

"Annabeth, wake up, come on" says a voice, putting a firm hand on my shoulder. I grab the offending hand and twist it, ready to launch into a full defense sequence.

"Annabeth," groans my brother Marcus. "Oh," I say, laughing shyly. "Sorry." I let his arm go and swing my legs over the side of the bed. "One of your friends is here to see you," he says, mumbling as he walks away.

I wince. I didn't mean to hurt him, but it could have been a demigod that was working for Kronos or one that Luke… Luke. Swallowing, I push those thoughts into the back of my mind. I exhale loudly, surveying the papers and various books about the labyrinth that surround me. I must have fallen asleep while I was working. I extract myself from the jumble of blankets and begin shuffling the papers into neat piles when there is a knock at the front door, reminding me that someone had asked to see me. It's probably the Aphrodite girl's, coming to give me a makeover I think, pulling open the grey door.

The first thing I register are the green eyes, pulling me into them. I shake my head to clear it. "Percy, hi" I say. "Hi," he replies, a contagious grin spreading over his face.

It's then that I realize I am still in my pajamas. My dads grey over sized t-shirt and my black sweat pants don't feel so comfortable as Percy stares at me.

"I'll just, umm, go, I ,wait here, have to change, um" I stutter, shutting the door.

What is happening? I'm a daughter of Athena, I am never speechless. And why did I freak out? It's only Percy, I tell myself, but I don't believe that. I try to push these unimportant thoughts to the back of my head, convincing myself that I'm just embarrassed that Percy was awake before me. Really, since when does that happen? I walk, now wearing jeans and my camp t-shirt, towards the door. The open page of a book that I hadn't seen before catches my eye. II lean my hands on my desk to get a better look. After skimming through the print, my mind is racing with new ideas. Grover and Tyson will be a big help if this is what we're up against, I think as I stuff my feet in my sneakers. And Percy definitely needs to come. I put my hand on my face and shake my head. It always goes back to Percy.

I pull the sturdy grey door closed behind me as I step outside, the sun warming my skin.

"Sorry Percy," I say, as we start to walk towards the mess hall.

"No problem," he replies.

"What brought you to my cabin?" I ask, truthfully curious.

He fiddles with his camp necklace as he says, "Well I have a test in ancient Greek today, and, um" he stutters.

"And you need someone to help you study?" I guess. He nods.

"The day of the test?" I exclaim.

He grins shyly.

"Of course you're studying at the last-minute, seaweed brain," I say, rolling my eyes.

"And yes I'll help you" I continue.

His smile gets even wider. There is no way I could have said no to a grinning Percy with those sea-green eyes, I think, much to my own surprise.

"I knew you would help wise girl," he says.

"And I'll help you in sword fighting if you want," he continues, challenging me.

"Oh, you think you need to teach me?" I ask, feigning surprise.

"Meet you in the arena after lunch and we'll spar," he says, "and get ready to lose," he calls as we part ways.

I raise my eyebrows at his confidence. "I think you'll be the one losing, seaweed brain," I reply with a smirk, and turn around before he can see the ridiculous smile on my face .
